i shite on new orleans all the time in real life (and used to on the reddit before i got banned) but the sheer amount of vitriol and hate on the site is pretty strange. that goes for the state as a whole though.

Naaaah . I would wager that the DA office would welcome it. Less paperwork. I remember back in the early 90s some punk tried to carjacking an older lady at a stop sign in NO East. The old lady thinking fast as soon as the guy jumps in the car takes and drives her car into the Morrison Canal. She survived it with barely a scratch with a little soreness. The car was toast but the carjacker had a broken jaw and several broken ribs and a concussion. The old lady said she would be damned if a punk was going to take her car from her. So she decided that she would take him out even if it meant possibly getting hurt. " Besides" she said," I had insurance on the car "

It’s bc of the demographics. My grandparents and wifes parents never wanted to step foot in New Orleans. “Concrete jungle.”
I lived uptown in a nice area..neighbors were doctors, attorneys, professors, etc…but at the end of the day, it was not how we wanted to raise our kid. We moved to the northshore and have no hesitation to let my kid play outside, go down the street, etc. that’s how a kid should grow up, not having to worry about going outside alone, us getting our vehicles vandalized or carjacked at gunpoint.
