If someone never advanced above GS-7, which is not likely for anyone with 25 years, then they would be making well over $50K. That is figured at the lowest locality pay. So, you have no fricking idea.

Congrats. I want to get to Houston near the end of my career. That COLA is among the highest, but the actual cost of living is nowhere near the top. The highest of my career was in DFW, which is inexplicably lower than Houston.

Yeah but it makes it easier to "monitor" them if you know what I mean.

Saw it, participated in it. Saw a lot of uninformed posters in there claiming it was impossible.

When the math was explained those posters stuck their head in the sand and kept saying it was impossible.

Some fields allow for extreme overtime, some don't. If you have never been in one off those fields it is understandable that it is a foreign concept.

I never saw "your" math. It still seems fraudulent. However I;m interested into what your side.
Could you explain it to me?

Yea Houston is pretty sweet. The quality of life here is great. Dallas is very nice but the COL in Houston is lower.

I had a long response but decided it wasn't worth posting. Thanks OP for your service but I don't see why you posted this topic knowing it would turn into a shite show.

Sorry Really didn't know the shite storm it would cause. Probably why I don't post much on TD.

I know, I must have misunderstood you in your previous post. I was pointing out that he would be making well over $50K even if he was very low level. My apologies.
