Article says September 20th but I've also seen it as the 19th. Apparentlyit was late at night, either just before or after 12.
This concert poster for Prather Coliseum says Sept 20.

The Shreveport Times article I posted the link to said that it was the night of the famous tennis match. Bobby Riggs vs. Billy Jean King.
The concert had about 1,000 in attendance.

One of my favorite singer song writers. Operator is probably my favorite of his. Croce was really just getting started when we lost him.

I thought he was older, but I guess I was a lot younger then. I wonder if the plane was just simply overloaded

He wrote so many good songs. Time in a bottle is my favorite.

You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim"

That was a special song for my wife and I.

Jim Croce could tell a better story in a three minute song than most songwriters can tell in their entire career.
Box #10 is probably my favorite of his.

Agreed. They just don’t come close to songs like this anymore.

Wikipedia claims his wife received a note just after he died saying he was planning on quitting music. I never knew that.

This, my favorite song writer of all time. Box #10 is my favorite song of his but like you said, he did not miss. Plus my Dad loves Jim Croce and is the one that introduced me to his music so Croce will always have a special place with me for that.

Saw his son play at the Red Dragon a few years back. Put on a good show.
