Can you define child abuse as related to this study? Some consider being spanked as abuse or verbally scolded, slapped across the face as a smart mouth child, etc.

Your title and excerpt are misleading.
First of all, something is wrong with Canada because the rate of abuse in the general population is a whopping 31%. If that is true, I don't believe it is much of a stretch to say the military is approximately 50%.
Secondly, this study supporting higher rates of child abuse among the US military =/= 50% of the military were abused. All it implies is that those in the military are more likely to have been abused than the general population.
As for the premise itself, it isn't outlandish, but I highly doubt those numbers hold true in the US.

Were police detectives abused too? a high percentage of police officers/detectives who work murder scenes their entire lives live with PTSD. It's not because they were spanked you dumbass.

absolutely. Child abuse is seriously scaring. i am just realizing in my 40s how bad the abuse was in my background.

E/51st LRS. Yeah, plenty of Graf and Wildflecken time in between deployments. Still managed to see quite a bit, though not enough. I'd like to take an extended vacation over there to see it at a more relaxed pace.
