Been with a several chicks who were into riding horses. Every single one is batshit crazy, but I did learn that one of worst things you can say is “your horse looks skinny” or something to that effect. It’s a huge passive aggressive frick you in that world

I blame the "agents" and pinhookers in the 80's that wanted a million dollar year, not a lifelong career. Drove a lot of folks out with all that greed.
Forget the year but Charlie and Dwayne were in the running for trainer of the year.
Charlie did it with about 20 horses
Dwayne did it with about 200 horses
Not hiding, just love of the horse has gotten lost on the younger set. More kids text than want to ride. Not sure you get kids to put time into something else (say grooming a horse) than taking pictures of themselves. Not much to engage the younger set. Was at the finish line at the Breeders Cup for American Pharoah's win and the kids did not go with me because it was "boring" and none of their friends were there. I feel I was blessed to see it before it got here.
We knew the Ginters pretty well and all the years of effort for the "instant" success of Unbridled. Still laugh they let that horse go off at 10 or 12 to 1. Bigger issue is a horse tells you what their schedule is and not all of them have 4 year windows. Lot of good races for older horses have disappeared because you win some races as a 3 year old and get off the track.

I went home to visit hoping I could score some ok tickets pharoah’s year. I WILL be there in a few years when it comes back.
