Ok, someone help me out here. With all of the technology and special effects at Hollywood’s disposal, why are real guns, capable of firing any sort of projectile still being used?

Pretty sure it’s because most actors can’t fake recoil (is that the right term?) properly.

Horrific and pathetic that someone's life was taken over something so meaningless and preventable. It's unbelievable really.

This is the problem. And I get every 2a lover doesn’t do this. But shite, I check my guns knowing nothing is in them because I checked them last time I put them up. But I still check for a round next time I pick one up. That’s the first thing you should do.

The question I have is why would they even have live rounds anywhere on set?

Well one actually died. And on purpose i don’t know? He might have shot the gun on purpose for a scene not knowing it had rounds in it and happened to hit people.

True, you would think not. Where do they get these guns? As a gun owner I’m still checking because it’s not just one in the chamber. Possibly any projectile in there.

I clean mine and put them in a case after use. I’m not sure what these movie people do.

And this goes back to why I think guns aren’t bad, people are careless. Like driving. More teens die in car wrecks than from gun shots.

It said director and director of cinematography are the ones that got shot. Could be untrue.

That’s why I’m at a ?

Because maybe it was on purpose? Or they were just in the line of fire during a scene?

Halyna Hutchins was the Director of Photography who was killed on set. Very sad.

She and the director were likely behind the camera getting a shot of the actor firing the gun.

Possibly happened like the Brandon Lee incident where there was not a trained armorer to check and supervise the handling of firearms, they didn’t think it was needed or didn’t want to pay the salary.

If I touch any firearm the very first thing I do is visually and physically check for a chambered round and the magazine.

Alec Baldwin was the one who fired the gun that killed the woman.

Hutchins was the director of photography for Baldwin’s film, Rust; she died when a prop gun discharged, according to a local sheriff in New Mexico.

The prop gun misfired, Deadline reports, when Baldwin was holding it on the New Mexico set of the movie Rust, which Variety describes as an “independent feature” being shot near Santa Fe.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Baldwin was questioned by authorities and was seen in tears. The newspaper reported that authorities are trying “to determine if the incident was an accident” as well as “what type of projectile was discharged.”
