You just described everyone on my father's side of my family. The very fact I was able to transcend my poor white trash DNA to make it to middle class without the gubment's help is a fricking miracle.

Probably grossly we exaggerated. To fix it, bring back manufacturing to the US. We need to be producers, not consumers.
nah.
We need to do whatever we do most efficiently and that isn't manufacturing.
The problem is a dumbing down of the lower tiers of the population. Those people will be left behind.
Labor participation rates increased when manufacturing jobs started slowing down. Women and African Americans joined the workforce in higher numbers, and wages became more stagnant.
Lower participation rates aren't a bad thing. Could be as a result of affluence, fewer need to work.

Does this include the illegitimate children they have so they can get a check every month ?

I'm in the 37.2% and it's great.

And right now our system incentivizes the lower tiers to have as many children as humanly possible.

Just as in the natural world where there are parasites that have absolutely no plans of being self reliant, we have people in our midst who have absolutely no plans of being self reliant. They are the personification of parasitic behavior.

My wife is on the dole, but just from me.
Yes, I know someone will have fun with this comment.

Why should we bring manufacturing back when it can be done more cheaply elsewhere? Even when it does come back to the US it tends to be largely automated so the number of jobs don't translate. Traditional manufacturing in the West is largely dead.

You do realize that they are only counting people who are w-2? I guarantee you that they are not counting 1099 people and contract workers

If people know that they can live perfectly fine without a job, why would they work 40hrs/wk in a plant? These people aren't going to work

Where'd you get that quote? I didn't see it listed in the cited article.

America....fat, dumb and lazy
Posted on 6/10/19 at 10:48 am to Jon Ham
That’s good since women shouldn’t work

I can definitely see this. I try to load up my errands for one day that I take off and I'm always thinking "there are a lot of people driving around (non-commercial vehicles) at 10 am on a thursday."
Too many frickers living off the working class.

Once again, "these people" includes retired people, housewives, students, etc. If you honestly think 40% of the population is just being lazy and living on welfare you need to do some reading.

It already has. IQs are dropping, independent thought is dying and problem solving ability is waning.
America of the future will be a bunch of low intelligence slaves controlled by the elite, kept in check by technology.
Policy continues to be implemented to strip down the individual in favor of the collective. The end results will be disasterous as all the industrious will leave.
