Investigators believe the fields could be the work of cartels, based on the sophistication of the operation.

Authorities located the fields around 3 p.m. Monday and have been processing the evidence since then.

So could heroin but at what cost?

People would still abuse heroin and die from it but it would be legal and thus won’t cause them to be deprived of their freedom and property for simply possessing it?

The value of the crop could be around $60 million to $70 million.

Probably about equal to what law enforcement spent finding it.

Oh and also it’s high time to legalize marijuana.

Ain't gonna happen in the backwards South. It's great to live in Seattle!

A plant!?! The horror!

Thank goodness the authorities are concerned with that instead of actual crimes like murder, theft, hard drugs. What a true service to America

Would they have arrested my boy George Washington or Thomas Jefferson for growing "hemp" a lowly ditch weed back in the day.

Federal, state and local authorities are investigating the discovery of multiple marijuana fields in rural Mississippi.

John Dowdy, who directs the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, says there are seven plots on about 40 acres (16 hectares) in Jefferson Davis County. They are about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southeast of Jackson.

I'm just glad that they didn't find the rest of my marijuana plants. Always plant in the ocra patch and they will never find it and that is a fact jack.

All these people who hate cops need to stop and write these guys a thank you note. That could be marijuana that was headed to your kid. The lives that could have been ruined by that amount of pot are incalculable.

They sure do play some good football in that county for such a rural place.
