The Far Side. Think dinosaurs smoking cigarettes...

"Bad luck on the Birthmark, Murray..."

Love me some Calvin, though.

Comics are becoming a lost art with the death of newspapers. Really sucks

I assume that was the first strip?

I never got into C&H when I was younger. But in grad school a bunch of the class took a trip to Ecuador and in our room at the villa we had two C&H books for bathroom reading. And I read a ton of them and loved it. Never even knew what I was missing.

The '80s were the greatest decade ever for comics.

And just about everything else too except cars.

Bill Watterson did what he loved until he didn't feel like he could do it as well, then he walked away.

From an (extremely rare) interview on the 15th anniversary of the final C&H strip, on why he ended the strip:
quote:

This isn't as hard to understand as people try to make it. By the end of ten years, I'd said pretty much everything I had come there to say. It's always better to leave the party early. If I had rolled along with the strip's popularity and repeated myself for another five, ten, or twenty years, the people now "grieving" for Calvin and Hobbes would be wishing me dead and cursing newspapers for running tedious, ancient strips like mine instead of acquiring fresher, livelier talent. And I'd be agreeing with them. I think some of the reason Calvin and Hobbes still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it. I've never regretted stopping when I did.
He has an estimated net worth of over $100,000,000.

I still have every single collection/book that was published (I think). I had them all stored in a closet under the stairs and came across them during a move. My wife had never seen them (no pics) and wanted to toss them out. She’s younger and had never heard of Calvin and Hobbes.

I may need to dust them off and revisit. I loved them all as a kid.

It's a sly take on "Tiger Bait". As many on here have argued for years, Tiger Bait is a truly bizarre taunt, as it implies that an even fiercer predator has left out a Gamecock or a Gator or whatever as bait for the Tiger. Sure, the bait will get eaten...but then also the Tiger will be captured and eaten.
