I hear ya. You got to be a team player but my people just know I’m not going out to eat before we go. Lol.

The best time to me to be on the beach is from 5-8pm.

And which family member chose Hooters as the family meal in 30a?

Goal was wings to go bc it was reasonably close. One person likes their wings..I’m not a fan.

The Mexican restaurants are always fully staffed. Tell the amigos over at Los Ranchero down from Sandestin/Topsail right off 98, shopping center with the post office; LaBR4 sent you for a free margarita

I haven’t seen a good looking Hooter’s waitress since the late 90’s.

think a lot of people have woken up to the fact that being a server at a low to mid tier restaurant kinda fricking sucks.

So what are they doing instead? That's what I don't get. Last year the govt was giving people free money so I can understand then why they'd stay home and still get paid. But now even if they think those kinda jobs suck, are they just electing to not make any money instead? I mean that massive amount of people from the workforce that used to have those jobs that current do not have to have gone somewhere right?

1 - Not working. Highest % of people living at home in 40+ years. Also able to live off government.

2- Working from home..call center, OnlyFans, etc

3- Other types of service jobs after same people - Uber, food delivery.

Go to Cafe 30-A, son. But a family meal might cost the deed to your house by now.

Bubba Gump Cheeseburger is $14.99.

“Mama always had a way of explaining things so I could understand them.”- Forrest

Also the one family member liked that they came and asked Movie questions. They aren’t even pretending to do that anymore lol. You can feel the crisis from staff.

Appreciative of these folks working and trying to explain to hangry family isn’t working. Life lessons.

30A restaurants are also having difficulties with staffing. There isn’t enough reasonably priced housing in the area. Add in crazy gas prices and folks not tipping well because of all the added on fees,* it’s hard to justify working here.

*Big thread on Nextdoor recently about a 15% service fee, 2% resort fee and an automatic 25% gratuity adding 42% to a bill has locals thinking twice about eating out. No matter. Tourist influx coming in tomorrow on changeover Saturday.

While you are not wrong, summer jobs in destin were not career or long term positions. They were temp summer jobs and they were making $200-400 for a 6 hour shift. Not sure pay has anything to do with it?

They was no problem getting staff st Pensacola beach hotels before Covid. Now they have had job fairs to try to recruit staff, even after offering to pay people to just show up and talk to them they got zero attendance. People do not want to work even for decent wages, I would like to know how they are financially surviving.

Nah, I think people are working. The problem I believe is that no one wants to work service industry jobs on a schedule. As said, I think they are doing grub hub, Uber, and online crap when they want.

I’m extremely surprised more restaurants arent moving to counter service honestly. Just have 2-3 staff working the tables, a busser, and everyone order at the counter .

I think the future is more of the computers you can order yourself.

I’m very surprised more places haven’t adjusted. Just have the servers sell booze and pre buss. Buster clear the table. Food runner take the food. People order at the table and refill their own non alcoholic drinks.
