3 million miles and counting...

A Long Islander’s revered red Volvo — known for having racked up more than 3 million miles — is still hitting the pavement in mint condition.
Irvin Gordon says he has cranked out another 273,895 miles in his 1966 P1800 convertible since he hit the triple-million mark in September 2013 — with no signs of stopping.

Nothing with 3,000,000 miles on it is in "mint" condition.

Those old Volvos are beautiful cars. Looks like it's getting a bit hard for him to squeeze into his, though.

Irvin Gordon needs to rotate his names.
And his spare tire is overinflated.

Damn, 365 days a year x 50 years...that's 175 miles a day, every day, since 1966 (using 3.2 mil, the extra over that will cover leap days)

That ain't shite, a baw from Houma has 1,000,000 miles on a 2007 tundra

I knew a guy that has a million on a 90's model GMC Z71.

The Tundra is impressive because he did it in 8 years, no repairs other than maintenance, and he's a hotshot driver so he usually has something to haul in it

I knew there have been a few T400 Chevrolet Trucks and Suburbans that have gone more than 1,000,000 miles since the mid/late 1990's to mid 2000's. A million in under 10 years is a LOT of driving.
K&N uses one in an advertisement for their air filters.
From everything I've read, domestic 3/4 ton and 1 ton full sized trucks/SUVs, and large vans are the most likely to flip their 6 digit odometer than any other vehicle type except big rigs and busses.
I knew someone in Louisiana who put over a million in a 2002 or 2003 Impala that I think he still owns. He does most of his own maintenance. That beast went through two transmissions, several alternators, countless light bulbs, lots of tires, and at least 4 or 5 sets of front rotors. The front seat had a very clear butt imprint when I saw it, and the rim of the steering wheel was actually worn down. A lot of older Ford Crown Vics and Econoline vans are high mileage too. They look like they've been to hell and back because they have.

If he got it in O6 that's 300 miles a day average.

I remember hearing about this car @ 2M.
I can't imagine how bored I would be.

I've done the math, and that 3 million miles comes to 5.7 years of driving IF he drove at 60 miles per hour the entire time. And longer if he went slower.
I don't know if that makes sense...seems like a fabrication.

This guy sounds like he's all about a good time:
quote:
“Nobody likes to travel like I do,” said Gordon, who prefers to drive solo. “That way I don’t have to put up with anybody’s nonsense.”

We have a 2009 Corolla with over 600,000 on it

My Dad had a 83 Chevy C20 with over a million... He had to change out the engine and tranny a couple of times if I recall correctly.
