There's a good chance you'll soon see regular gas selling for $3 a gallon.

Concerns that President Donald Trump is about to impose new sanctions on Iran have sent oil prices climbing, and gas prices are coming along for the ride.

The national average price is up to $2.81 a gallon according to AAA, an increase of 3 cents in the last week, and 15 cents in the last month. This is the highest prices have been since 2014.

And more price hikes are on the horizon. The Oil Price Information Service, which tracks prices for AAA, expects the national average to rise to about $3 a gallon sometime this month. The good news is that prices are likely to creep lower once they reach that peak.

Related: Oil markets brace for Trump to kill Iran deal

"Most of this recent increase has to do with speculation that the Trump administration will take a hard line with Iran," said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for OPIS. The president has until May 12 to decide whether the US will stay in a deal with Iran meant to curb its nuclear program, or pull out of the agreement and once again impose sanctions on the country.

That deadline is adding to normal seasonal increases in prices. The month before Memorial Day is historically a period when prices climb as refiners and gas stations prepare for the summer driving season.

Good. It'll keep all the poors (with the exception of oil field baws) off the roads. I wish gas was $10/gallon. It would keep the trash from clogging up the roads they didn't pay for.

I agree with $10 a gallon. Makes my 401 sky high.

$3.00 is nothing, this crash has reduced capex enough globally that $5.00 is a certianty in the next 48 months.

That's a great mindset. Except for the fact it would crush business's, especially small, and raise price on all goods.
Oil companies would never do it because everyone would go electric just to survive.

I hate when people on here say they like cheap gas. I guess they hate Louisiana too because our state goes into a depression when gas falls below $2.50 a gallon

Well it’s been $4 before so I’m sure $3 isn’t out of the question

That's only because our spending has far outpaced inflation.

Here comes the oil guys bragging about banging sluts and buying truck nuts. They are as bad as real estate agents.

Fuk the oilfield baws. Low gas prices helps the rest of the economy more than it hurts the truck nut baws

Maybe Louisiana shouldn't rely so much on one industry.

Maybe, but just briefly as oil gets into the $70-$75 range and then falls again.

the 5 million people in the Louisiana are a minority when it comes to lower gas prices. Nobody wants to pay more for this shite. The other 300+ million americans don't want high gas prices dude
