Yep. Brick to the head. For nothing

I wish he would have had a .45 when they pulled him out of the truck. That would have been a great video.

Also, nobody fricked with the Koreans.

Yeah, baw, I member.

I was in Monterey, California. I remember a unit of the 7th Infantry Division (Light) mobilizing out of Fort Ord and planes taking off over my house for days, it seemed.

It was a weird moment in time, for sure.

I think its worth mentioning that there is a chance it could have also played into the OJ verdict. The jury deliberated for what? 4 hours? I know them being there so long played a factor into that as well, but there was a threat that if OJ was found guilty, there would be more rioting so I always thought that might have played a bigger influence.

Cochran was credited with hitting a homerun with his "if the glove dont fit..." statement, but that trial was too complex for that one statement to make that big of an impact and that, somehow, the threat of more riots has a bigger impact.

I remember a lot about the riots, but I do recall how the media almost always ONLY showed Rodney King getting his arse kicked by the cops, but rarely, if ever, showed the full video of the things Rodney King did to the cops that pissed them off.
I'm not saying what the cops did was right, but I do remember thinking about how the media incited a lot of this willingness to riot by showing just one side of the whole ordeal.

My wife and I went out to LA with her parents two weeks after the riots to visit her brother. When we would tell people where we were going for vacation they would typically look at us as if we were crazy.

We had a nice time in LA with no trouble. Saw some burnt buildings in a not so great area of town but that was it.

Either way, who knew that situation was a look into our future? That was a situation in which some guy had a video recorder and just stumbled upon that situation while recording (which wasn't something you really had to worry about then, since most people wasn't carrying around a recording device).

All of the cops that beat Rodney deserve to receive 19 forms of aggressive cancer

There was a riot on the streets, tell me where were you?
You were sitting home watching your tv
While I was participating in some anarchy

First spot we hit it was my liquor store
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford
With red lights flashing time to retire
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire

Next stop we hit it was the music shop
It only took one brick to make that window drop
Finally we got our own p.a
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?
Hey

Here are some lyrics from a song called "the day the n----- over" from The Chronic.

quote:

They wonder where me bailin and don't really understand
The reason why me take me law in me own hand
Me not out for peace and me not Rodney King
Me gun goes click, me gun goes bang
Them riot in Compton and them riot in Long Beach
Them rion in they Lakers and don't really wanna see
n-ggaz start to loot and police start to shoot
Lock it down at seven o'clock, then again it's like Beirut
Me don't show no love cuz it's us against them
Them never ever love me cuz it's sport to break de,
and kill at my own risk if I may
Delay to spray with my AK and put it to rest

quote:

Sittin in my livin room calm and collected
Feelin mad, gotta get mine respected
cuz what I just heard broke me in half
and half the n-ggaz I know, plus the n-ggaz on the Row, is bailin
Laugh now but cry much later
Ya see when n-ggas get together they get mad cuz they can't fade us
Like my n-ggas from South Central, Los Angeles
They find that they couldn't handle us
Bloods, Crips on the same squad
with the Ese's thumpin, n-gga it's time ta rob and mob
(And break the white man off somthin lovely, biddy-bye-bye
I don't love dem so they can't love me)
Yo straight puttin down gettin my scoot on
Let's jump in off in Compton so I gots ta get my loot on
and come up on me some furniture or sometin
Got a VCR
in the back of my car
that I ganked from the Slauson Swap Meet
And motherfrickers better not try to stop me
Cuz they will see that I can't be stopped
Cuz I'ma cock my Glock and pop til they all drop

The riots also caused a truce between the crips and bloods. Forgot about that.
