What a sweet gig it is to work 6 months a year for a few decades and get that fat check and cadillac healthcare.

Yet teachers cry 24/7

quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Nearly $1 of every $4 in state aid sent annually to Louisiana’s public schools disappears before it reaches classrooms, siphoned away to pay retirement obligations that cost $853 million a year, according to a new report from the legislative auditor.

We ended that shite.

Teachers can contribute to their own retirement like most others do.

You know certain jobs have certain draws? Want to make a lot of money? Become a doctor or get into operations at Exxon. Want time off? Become a teacher.

I've done it.

Like everywhere else, 20% are really good, 80% are just there for a paycheck.

Clear out them Education Buildings in Downtown BR. Way to much bureaucracy there. Ask any teacher you know in the State if they get any help from them towers in BR as to how to teach kids, they will always answer no. Also who ever came up with the formula for 90% of your last 3 years of your salary to figure out your retirement. How about 90% of your teaching career salary. All those years of making 30k to 40K and the last 3 years you magically get a position making 90K, then bingo wow, now I make 81K a year in retirement.

My wife is a retired teacher drawing a state pension, and I'm here to say that govt pensions need to go away, move them to a 401K type plan with a small govt match like the rest of us have to live with. All govt pensions, not just teachers.
