Any issues with this model as far as engine or transmission?

It’s American so don’t buy it. Piece of junk that will leave you stranded. Get a Tacoma.

I wouldn't buy any vehicle built after 2020. Look for something older and more reliable. The EPA pinko commie figs are ruining vehicles. Vehicle pricing continues to climb and reliability/dependability continue to falter.

I’ve got that truck but in the 3 L diesel I highly recommend the 3 L diesel even with today’s gas prices and versus fuel. I’m saving money 25 miles to the gallon plus.

The 5.3 is the most reliable out of the 3 motors. You can't do a delete unless you want to void the warranty. Change the transmission fluid every 60k and diff fluid maybe every 30k. Seems like all new vehicles suck. The new motor should come out next year on the trucks if you want to wait. I see GMC is doing financing deals on their trucks right now.

If you're wanting good MPG you don't buy a truck or SUV.
Just avoid the 6.2.

The financing deals have me considering trading in my 2019 1500 Sierra. 48K miles with all fluids changes at 40k.
But - I would get the cylinder deactivation dongle off Amazon that plugs into the OBD-II Port.

Yes. I have the Range device. The full delete swaps out the cam and lifters.

But yes the remaining chevys, fords, gmc you see on trailer beds and on the side of the road are those that keep past the warranty.

This is the answer.
I'd still buy a toyota hybrid if it had a similar stetup to the camry/prius. I'm avoiding the turbos.
These vehicles are far more expensive (even adjusted for inflation) and far less durable and reliable than they were around the turn of the century. I'll hang on for dear life to my Tacoma but even it (3rd gen) suffers from the early phases of enshittification...nowhere near as simple or as durable as the 1st and 2nd gens.

Actually it plugs into the computer in the wheel well. It's not too difficult. There's torx screws holding the liner and you just pull it away a bit. That's how my yukon is. I think most of the new ones are like this.

My understanding is it's the Cylinder Deactivation System that was introduced in 2019 that has issues.
I have an older Silverado 5.3 with Cylinder Deactivation and haven't had a single problem with the engine.
It has 170k miles and runs like new (and yes I bought it new).
A friend of mine has an older 5.3 with 500k miles.
That being said I wouldn't touch a new one.
Way overpriced and way too many issues from transmission, "chevy shake", and the newer Cylinder Deactivation System.
