I have the same truck. It currently has 12k miles on it and I avg 25+ mpg. Zero issues so far.

Buy a Tundra. Seriously, why walk into a problem.
2002, sold at 220k miles. No issues.
2013, 250k miles, no issues. Keeping it forever.

Felt like it was time and getting out before problems occurred. Sold to a guy I worked with who’s still driving it today. Reason I’m keeping the 2013 forever. I’m not a tight arse, just refuse to buy shite products.

Not really. I was putting a lot of miles back then pulling a boat most of the time so wanted to make sure I had something reliable. I think the blue book at the time was 9-10k and sold it to an old man at work for $5k. Prob could’ve gotten more for it but who knows.

Is the 2027 engine going have been made with the relaxed CAFE standards in mind? And hopefully more reliable?

From my experience, transmission will ultimately fail. Could be 30k could be 100k miles. Could be both. Who knows.

It has 170k miles and runs like new (and yes I bought it new).
A friend of mine has an older 5.3 with 500k miles.
My 09 made it to 170 and a cylinder crapped out on me. Everything else still worked great

Second that. I have the 2026 1500 with 3.0 L diesel too. Average 26 MPG. Getting close to 28-30 on highway trips. I only have 5K but I have a friend that has over 60K without any issues.

New engines for 2027, but I would not assume reliability will improve for at least a couple of model years after

My 2013 is fine. I don’t care about luxuries when it comes to vehicles. It pulls my boat to Conroe.

There is no way you’re saving money running a diesel getting g 25MPG. Diesel is $1.3-.1.6 a gallon more expensive than gas. You’re paying $32-$36 more a tank. The math doesn’t work.

I’ve run the numbers, the spread between gas and diesel has to exceed 66% before I merely break even. Your assumption of even $1.6 is more like 33% where it’s been running spreadwise.
I’ve tracked it all and it checks.
