Side design is R8
No. Side is NSX, front end resembles the La Ferrari, and the rear is like a Camaro/C7 Vette mashup.
That said, it still looks unique enough to not have to draw any comparisons to existing cars. Overall, it’s very much a C8, if that makes sense.

Yea. It’s beautiful.
But for classic ‘Merican muscle car stylings, it’s a damned shame the camaro is going out. I mean all that’s really left for affordable, cool-looking muscle cars are challengers and mustangs.
‘Vettes are smooth, but camaros are cool.

I bought the ole lady a Camaro. She really wanted one. The thing sucks to drive. You cant see shite out of it. I'm fricking short and have banged my head getting in the damn thing.

The next generation Camaro is delayed, not canceled.

Not what I’d heard. Thankfully it’s not cancelled then. Thanks for the good news.

That row of buttons still looks out of place. Maybe it won't be as bad when sitting inside. We'll see.
The car is built for the driver, and I'd imagine it is pretty sweet sitting in that cockpit-esque driver's seat.

As it should be to a point. With that said and only using pictures to make this comment, it doesn't look favorable to find yourself finger walking up or down a single row of 15(?) buttons to find the one to defog the windows in busy traffic or at night.
If my passenger finds the temp blowing on them is too cold (old Vette owners can laugh at this), I would rather them not lean over to hunt for that switch either.
Maybe it won't be as bad when actually sitting in it.

It's pretty clear that's the case.
No one is cross shopping a Mustang/Challenger/ Corvette.
Car guys are cross shopping Porsche/F-Type R/Z06
The value proposition is the F -Type R and Z06. Porsche doesn't win the power contest, but it's hard to beat the resale.
The new BMW 850 is an impressive beast, but it is heavy, more like a GT cruiser. The on-demand AWD is something pretty special, though.

That's about it I think.
I mean, silk shirts with chest hair hanging out.
How you like that C5 spec series?
That's good racing for cheap.
Set up car with cage and brakes less than $35K, depending on donor car cost.

The later C5's (2001 and later)are a good bang for the buck and really don't need a lot added for a enjoyable ride.
I Agree, for someone with a small budget, they could easily get into this and I think it would be a fun thing to do.

It isn't all summed up by stats and numbers either.
Prestige of a 911 is more to me than a Vette. Both suffer from having meh models of the (near) same chasis in the lineup. And I only mean that in a relative sense.
The F-type is just fricking beautiful. A basketcase of a car, but beautiful. Seeing one on every corner probably cuts down on the exclusivity that owning a Jaaaaag once had.
Cross shopping is going to mean so much more than what can be quantified on paper.

They went with a lot of cast aluminum and carbon fiber in the design.
Actually, they put very little CF in the car which is a big reason that could hit the price point. It is also the reason it is a little tubby on the scale, I love how the only released weight was dry.
The small amount of CF is actually a positive in my eyes in that it leaves lots of room to shed weight for the Z06 and ZR1 editions.

Not normally a Vette guy, I’d drive the shite out of this one. That is if that’s what actually ends up looking like once they start hitting the lot.
