That C8 wishes it looked like a Ford GT!
If they tried for a GT look, it was a piss poor job.

Yeah, no...
But at least it doesn't have a frickin V6 out of a pickup truck...

That wall is just so dumb
Otherwise I'm liking it.

I like the wraparound interior setup for the driver.
Gorgeous car.
Gorgeous car.

Is a V8 out of a pickup truck any different?
ETA: I don’t care where an engine is sourced as long as it’s got the right hp and tq.

Those specs might just be good enough to sell a few here and there.
My question is will they break 40k in sales the first year. Also, I wonder if their margin is nearly as high as the C7 even when amortizing the R&D and tool up. It appears to be a great car but I am not sure where the sale conversions will come from that will get it over the ~150k unit per 5 year cycle the Vette historically tends to see. I hope it does well mainly because I want to see what the Z06/Z07 and ZR1 look like if the market is exceptionally string for them.

I doubt they’ll have all versions of the C8 available until 2021. But I think they’ll sell every one they can build - likely at a markup - for a while unless the economy tanks.

I’m sure it costs a fortune to switch to a mid engine design, so the C8’s configuration will be used for a long time. The C9 and C10 will likely be of similar size and layout.
Supposedly a Cadillac EV supercar is in the works. Perhaps they will use this mid engine-structure as a starting point.

That sounds vaguely like the piss poor argument often lofted at the Chevy V8 with just 2 valves per cylinder and an ancient OHV arrangement and wet sump oiling.
Plus it isn't like it is a regular F150 and does pump out 650hp and 550 pound/feet.

The market adjustments don't help GMs bottom line. Again I think it will sell in the 150k units over 5 years but not sure where they will get more conversion sales. Chevy usually sells roughly its manufacturing capability at Bowling Green the first year of a new model but it has always tapered off after that, I honestly would be surprised if the C8 is any different.

What's a tuned up Coyote (F-150 motor) pushing these days?

My discontent with the Ecoboost V6 ( aside with reliability problems) is they cheaped out on a $500K halo car. Ford has better options at their disposal and they still went with a modded F150 engine.

I thought they went with the EcoBoost because they were trying to get into LeMans

Quite possible. But a big part (rightfully so being a Halo car) was to add brand cache to the lower end Fords with the Ecoboost. ie. Advertising.

The advertising angle was pretty much stated from jump street

Never mind the engines in the GT40 that vanquished Ferrari were.... wait for it...glorified truck motors.

Different time period as well, Ford is in the thick of it as for as technology. Back then, not so much.
My point remains, they built this car from scratch and still chose a V6 when a FPC beast of a V8 is in its arsenal.
