Have a buddy in the industry and that appears to be one of the harder things to deal with. With such a small number of models one too many or two few in a segment can kill you.
makes sense. looks like the major difference between nautilus and aviator is the 3rd row in the aviator, whereas nautilus is 2nd row. IMO they should just offer the aviator without the 2nd row. I'd assume it would be cheaper than producing and advertising 2 different models. Anyone that chooses the nautilus over Lincoln's compact suv offering would probably gladly take the extra space offered in a 2 row aviator.
i think GMC has the right idea with the yukon, terrain and acadia (which comes with an optional 2 row configuration).

Would give this a hard look over the Q7. Very impressive.

That's the concept. Not production.

Biggest question is if this is truck based. Rwd and a V8 would be nice in a smaller suv.
It's going to be on the same chassis as the Explorer, MKX, and Edge.

Lincoln makes some damn good looking vehicles now.

With a triple turbo 4cyl? No V8, no buy

Explorer frame, RWD, no idea on the engine but likely turbo-charged v6
I don't think the Explorer has had a frame for a few years now. Been a Ford guy all my life, wife has had 3 new Explorers. Went to buy new last year, ended up with a Toyota. No frame for the Explorer, and if I remember, FWD or AWD were the only options.

i thought Explorer was body on frame, but apparently they switched to unibody a while back. Weird, because i test drove an explorer and it still drove more like a truck than a car.

Aviator is sharp, but like all lincolns, they will depreciate big time. Waste of money

Does it come with the 30a sticker standard?
If it's the same mechanical marvel the original Aviator was, it'll be cancelled after the first production run(3 or 4 years).

While the Lincoln Aviator displayed at the 2018 New York Auto Show looks ready for production; it’s actually a concept.

It's most definitely a concept.
You may want to tone down your expectations. Lincoln's recent Continental concept was amazing, but the production model was very underwhelming, as it offered the low rent proportions and parts of the Ford Taurus. Sales have been so bad that they are canceling the model.
The production Aviator model will be toned down significantly, with cheaper parts and less attractive proportions, as the concept you see did not have to adhere to the limitations of the free market or Ford's existing chassis dimensions.

Lincoln also announced the Nautilus, which will replace the MKX.
That actually is the MKX, which shares a chassis and power train with the front drive Ford Edge crossover.
Lincoln finally gave it a cool name.
