agreed. i dont like the wheels on the new navigator either.
These look better than the Navigator wheels and they make sense on an aircraft-inspired vehicle (fan blades on a jet engine)

Looks nice.
I like the interior display setup better than what Mercedes is doing right now with that ipad looking garbage. This one at least looks like it's been incorporated into the design.

Lincoln also announced the Nautilus, which will replace the MKX.

interesting move by Lincoln.
i thought the mkx was the replacement for the original aviator.
so now, Lincoln will have 4 size suv's- the small (mkc), medium (mkx/nautilus), large (navigator) and the aviator which falls between the navigator and nautilus.
it's odd, because Lincoln has such a small vehicle lineup (and overall presence in the auto industry), you'd figure they wouldn't want to fragment their market so much. If the Aviator was directly based on the explorer it would maybe make more sense, but it isn't.
That said, i really like the aviator, and would be very interested if it had 2nd row captains chairs.

Aviator looks sweet. Would drive.

Biggest question is if this is truck based. Rwd and a V8 would be nice in a smaller suv.

Americans want SUV's, everyone is going to a heavy SUV lineup. The Sedan is basically dead.

All these posts and not a single one posing the biggest question: what do the Nutz look like on it?

Explorer frame, RWD, no idea on the engine but likely turbo-charged v6

Looks good. Ford having Lincoln pivot to luxury crossovers and SUV’s might bail Lincoln out of mediocrity. Smart move.

It is the luxury division of Ford.

That's awesome. Isn't it the Explorer equivalent for Lincoln? Or did they rework the frame and design?

Agreed, but i think they would be better off with 3 instead of 4.
the aviator and nautilus seem almost redundant to me. Might be easier for Lincoln to focus on one platform rather than 2.

Please tell me that’s grown up Brent Rambo.

from what i'm reading, it's a crossover, so it wouldnt be based on the Explorer. It's more akin to a bigger Edge i suppose.
edit- it's not based off the current Explorer, but it will share a platform with the upcoming explorer.
Also, just realized that Lincoln already has a vehicle in this segment, the MKT, which I don't think i've ever seen on the road.
For a smaller brand, i think Lincoln would be best served dropping the nautilus and focusing on 3 suv's.

Have a buddy in the industry and that appears to be one of the harder things to deal with. With such a small number of models one too many or two few in a segment can kill you.
