My inlaws bought a SQ after the flood. replaced their 22 year old whirlpool with it since it was the most comparable.
We had a 4 year old maytag that was "eco-friendly" and took like an hour per load. I went to Stantons and was asking about a speedqueen. The lady told me they were about to redesign them and they just wouldn't be the same. i bought one that day and sold my maytag. Best decision i ever made.
TL:DR hurried up to purchase the old SQ version when i caught wind of the change

This sucks!!! I'm in the planning stage of a new house and couldn't wait to go shopping for the new Speed Queen washer and dryer for it. Now it looks like it will have some other shitty as brand in it.

You could always just look for used 10 year old top loaders. Most of them were built like tanks and maybe you might find a used SQ. I actually had no clue about washer/dryers or SQ's in general until I had to replace my washer/dryer that I lost in Harvey. I asked around and everyone said buy SQ, so I did. I guess I got the last models before the re-design. Been pleased so far.

Is it an upgrade from the meth whore?

i have fricking samsung top loader and dryer. I fricking hate them. They take forever. literally 50 mins for each run.
you need to learn how to become one with the early 2000s direct drive units. there are tons of old super duty kenmore washers to be had for well under $100 for the set. hell, napoleon just got the 'holy grail' SQ washer for free the other day. there are thousands (or even millions) of people who think they need an upgrade and you can pick up a unit that can be serviced for literally $5 and brought back to 100%.
i even bought some white enamel touchup paint and the 2 units i bought look brand new now. I had to by a little 3 pack of 'dogs' for like $5 at the sears appliance repair center and it agitates like brand new.
i've had only a couple of minor repairs since then and each time the part was on ebay for under $10.
working on these units couldn't be any easier either.

There is a current recall on most Samsungs. They came and fixed my washer, no charge.

right here. this set will last you until the year 3000.
eta if kenmore look for it to say 'super capacity plus' which is the biggest size tub. it will be in small print on the front of the machine under the knobs.

sent you 2 results. first one is a good price but can't make out the size on the unit.
second link is the correct washer unit but it doesn't include a matching dryer if you are looking to replace both.
also seller wants too much. you can practically find people throwing these away all the time.

I bought a new SQ about three weeks ago.Replaced a 10 year old Maytag. So far so good. I’ve been pleased with the way it cleans. We just don’t use the water sensor and don’t use the economy mode.

I bought a Speed Queen about a year ago. Best machine ever. If you haven't already, Google how to bypass the door switch with a clothes pin. It'll allow you to open the door at any time without the machine turning off.

Had an old Maytag when I was poor but it gave out
Got a cheap whirlpool set that sounded like a bomb was going off every spin
Got the fancy Samsung front loads with the pedestals and they lasted about five years
Got the top of the line LG he top load. fricking crap. How can it be unbalanced with nothing in it?
Bought a SQ year ago and won’t own anything else

Better hope you won't need to replace it in 20 years. Sounds like they will be just as bad as all of the new designs.

We bought a Speed Queen last year and love it. I have stinky teens who play sports, so we do lots of laundry.

The best thing about SQ is it is MADE IN AMERCIA

I'll ask Consuela and get back to you.

Does it come with a sticker and/or bottle opener? If so I’m in!
