i won't say it's the worst ever but the most bizarre.

i can honestly say every year of my life has gotten better and better over the last 10.

this is the first year i can't claim that.

my highlight was probably Trump winning, sadly. not that i was an overt Trump supporter, but the melt, hysteria, and hypocrisy of the other side has been fascinating as well as entertaining to watch.

2016 Worst Year Ever List

Things that really, really sucked in Louisiana:
- Historic, deadly flooding displacing around 100,000 people in south Louisiana
- Tragic terrorist shooting of Baton Rouge Police Officers
- Alton Sterling shooting and seemingly endless protests
- Deadly tornado outbreak in Feb 2016, including EF3 with fatalities in Assumption and St. James Parishes

Less horrific, but still sucked:
- Sickness and death of Mike the Tiger
- Firing of Les Miles
- F. King Alexander retains his job
- Difficult economic conditions throughout the state

Non-local suckage
- Fires in Tennessee
- Violent terrorist attacks in Nice, Istanbul, Columbus, and Orlando, including police-targeted shootings in Baton Rouge, Dallas, Philly, and St. Louis
- Push for censorship on social media
- Apparently a major American political party and most of the media are dishonest pieces of shite (which we know thanks to Wikileaks)

There were other personal things that sucked that I'd rather not list, but there is a silver lining:
- We didn't get nailed by a hurricane. Given our luck this year, I thought that was a strong possibility
- There were no major oil spills or environmental disasters in Louisiana so far.
- The elections are behind us now, and I'm pleased with Trumps victory as well as BREXIT
- Our 401k's are doing well this year.

Add:

O&G field as a whole, but that is a multi-year thing now.

Budget crisis and TOPS reductions

It doesn't take much of a stretch to find a Louisiana resident for whom 2016 was the worst year ever, but for the average American I believe that is a bit much.

i'm in the same boat. i enjoyed the idiocy from both sides during the election, but i'm tired of the winning now.

This has been a bad year for the most part, but my mom has terminal brain cancer she was diagnosed with last year. We didn't know if she would still be here. She is. Every day could be the last, but so thankful she hasn't left us yet.
