My wife's sister is in town with her kids, so we were going to let them drive my 2006 F-150 around for the two weeks they are here.

She went out to drive it the first time and then comes right back and says it isn't starting. I go out and start messing with it and while it will crank it won't start.

Heard both the fuel pump whine under the hood and by the fuel tank. The relay seems to be in good order. Even with spraying starting fluid it still won't turn over.

Before spraying the starting fluid I was starting to think Fuel Pump Module, but now maybe my coil. Any thoughts?

Not a huge deal as its a 3rd car, but it will be a pain in the arse to drive my SIL around for the time being.

ETA: Don't have a ODBII but no codes came up thru the test method on the odometer.

You've got the Ford coil pack HIV. It's an issue that dates back well into the early 2000's. Just Google it.

You will be guessing without an OBD reader. And someone that know what to do with that info. Just getting a code will not get you a fix.

Before spraying the starting fluid
Make sure you take the air filter off the carburetor first.

Fuse, eh? Mine did that. Swapped it out. No more problems. Gonna put the "fix" in next week.

how long has it been sitting without being run? Could be bad gas. you could take a gas line loose, drain it and get it to fire pretty quick.
