We passed the accident around 3:45 going eastbound. Helicopter was just landing and interstate was closed. A lot of emergency vehicles were on the scene but we didn't see any wrecked vehicles. Must been in the trees on the other side of the road

People are dead Osteen. You think that's funny?

Possibly UGA fans coming into town?

I-12 is such a fricked roadway

Why would I find that funny?

I don’t know that the roadway is that bad in that area but a lot of time people just gotta drive 80 no matter that the traffic is flowing perfectly at 71 in both lanes, crowded as hell.
There’s only so many square feet of asphalt per mile.
There are some times that require just a little patience while driving. Friday, after noon, anywhere near Baton Rouge, is one of those times.

I was driving on I-12 in Baton Rouge earlier today and people were driving more stupid than normal. Multiple vehicles were weaving in and out of traffic. fricking idiots.

other than the 2 Covington / Madisonville exits I don't see anything wrong with I-12 and I travel it everyday. The problem is the fricking idiots driving on it. They driving like dumb asses with no regards for theirs or anyone else's life.

I don’t live too far from that overpass, a few months ago a wreck on there made national news, big fire and a few deaths.

The problem is the amount of truck traffic on I-12. And that’s made worse by the amount of trucks that ride in the left hand lane. So people tend to zoom around trying to get ahead of them to avoid getting stuck behind one for miles.
I drove this stretch daily for three and a half years. I saw it every day.

Any idea on names of people? I have a lot of friends that drive that exact route everyday

quote:how could we do better than a straight, flat roadway at high speeds? If the only path was a 35mph winding road, it’d be “why don’t they build a straight 70mph road??” Even if we were all in jet packs, shitty drivers would find a way to wreck.

Yep. It's horrible to witness in this state the amount of stupidity on display every day on the interstate. I see it several times a week where traffic is moving at a good speed. Right lane 65-70. Left late doing 75 on average. Sometimes a vehicle is in the right lane going a little slow and people are passing and might only be going 75 while passing and a line forms. Never fails that frank will jump into the right lane and haul arse to the front and cut into the left lane with just a few feet between either the car in front of him or the one he's passing.
Weaving in and out of traffic and driving like a nimrod the whole time in my view.

No it isn't. Most trucks drive 65, but all fall into the 60-70 mph range. The problem is the agressive drivers going well over 70 and darting in and out of traffic.
