Maybe the police shouldn't engage in high speed chases.

And if the TPOS black kid would’ve run into the two girls- or anyone else- and Killed them, you’d be bitching about why cops didn’t do more to stop him.
If there wasn't a high speed chase then nobody would have run into anyone. I'm tired of everyone justifying this shite with "well let's just let all the criminals go then" as if it's alright that innocent people get killed regardless of the crime committed. If the perp is an imminent danger to the public, then yeah engage in a high speed chase if necessary. Otherwise use the radios, cameras, aircraft, etc to apprehend them safely. Or, you know, just wait where they are likely to go. Getting all excited about running someone down is a huge escalation that puts tons of innocents in danger. Might as well hang out the window and fire at the vehicle while you're doing it.

I know the details. He wasn't in the pursuit. He was hauling arse trying to catch up the oursuit that had been passed. He did not, DID NOT, yield at the light, you have to. Well, frick, that makes my blood boil.

Witness said he straight up ran a red light and crashed into them. Doesn’t sound like he was even thinking about yielding.

Charge the officer. He should be held accountable to some degree. Or lose his badge.

Exactly how much time are you losing to stop / slow down at a red light and ease thru it like an ambulance would ?

Pathetic.

Editing this as the initial news report was incorrect and the video showed the Addis cop was the lead car.

I don’t know why anybody would be a cop these days.

If everything you are saying here is true, then obviously my assessment is wrong and the cop is at fault. Especially if he wasn’t on duty. He needs to be held accountable.

As if all any of this information is available in the moment. Have you ever gone outside or left your cubicle?

The cop drove recklessly and killed two teenagers, possibly a third. Frick him. It’s his fault those girls are dead, he killed them. Imagine if that was your teenage daughter!!!

Police should absolutely chase suspects, but you still must do it in a safe manner. Killing innocent civilians during a chase because you were driving recklessly is NOT acceptable.

I support good law enforcement and condemn poor law enforcement. Not all cops deserve to be supported.

This. Exactly.

Blind “backing the blue” is no different than people who vote for the black guy regardless of party/stance/etc. You have to use your brain.

Most cops are probably good, but I do believe that the power tends to corrupt. Especially the lower end of the spectrum, which is going to be the only ones who would want to be a cop if things keep going the way they are for them.

The fundamental problem is you are by and large looking at a very low IQ subset.

SO you think thugs will run on the initial contact attempt, BUT, after the chase is called off and the "radios and cameras" alert police to their location later on, they won't run when the police try to stop them on the 2nd attempted contact?

I can't see what could possibly be the repercussions if a Police Chief got on TV and announced that the police will no longer be able to chase criminals. Would it be similar to whats going on in cities where they announced they wouldn't come out on shoplifting calls where the theft was less than $1,000?

frick man you've got this whole thing figured out.

No shite. Which is why it almost never happens. It’s so freaking rare that there is a zero % anyone in this thread could name another time it’s happened without googling.

How else is some young Baw gonna make 50-65K with no job skills or education.

A lot of x military guys do this to have a decent job with benefits and a retirement plan.

(Where I live) The average Police Patrol Officer salary in Wylie, TX is $60,644 as of November 23, 2022, but the range typically falls between $56,663 and $66,030.
