Where is all this bad weather that was predicted? Been some rain and some wind, but weathermen made it seem like the end of the world was coming this morning.

Oh, so you're one of those idiots that hear the phrase "severe weather potential" and automatically assumes it means "my house will get hit." I bet you live in a mobile home.

The SPC had us for a marginal threat. There really wasn't much buzz around this system, beside the news mentioning there was potential.

You want actual hype, watch for the stories coming about the system Saturday up north of here.

I wouldn't be surprised if you end up with less icy stuff than anticipated fwiw. Warm air rolling in fast. Just a hunch.

Been stuck in the '40s with wind and rain in DFW in what seems like a month.

Edge of that big western trough that's been in place all this month. Farther east, it's been nice and toasty.

I saw on TV the other day the Jet Stream was causing flights to be way earlier than expected or later depending on which way you were going. Something about 175mph winds measured aloft.

They caught a 230 mph+ reading up in Maine last night. Subtropical jet, split polar jet, and a little nudge from the polar vortex all lining up over eastern midwest and into New England. shite is roaring.

Hate to be flying out west through that though, recipe for a slow bumpy ride.

Stupid frick.

Weather people are like sports analyst, all they can do is take the information available to them to forecast the future. The atmosphere is changing constantly. And do they ever say "this week we guarantee you there will be 7" of rain an a tornado will hit Portage, Louisiana at 4:27PM"?

They were at least considering a tornado watch this morning for SELA & SMS (tweet below from around 5 or 6 this morning)

quote:

Dave Nussbaum WWL-TV @Dave_Nussbaum
The @NWSSPC is considering issuing a weather watch (likely tornado watch) for our area later this morning. Conditions this morning are becoming more favorable for thunderstorms to produce damaging winds and a few tornadoes in SE LA and S MS. #lawx #mswx #BeOn4 @WWLTV
