Icegator games, only place you could catch a piece of Popeye's chicken shot from a t-shirt cannon.

Holy shite that's awesome. How were these games not a sellout on the regular?

For a few seasons, for most games, if you didn't have season tickets or bought tickets weeks in advance, you were lucky to be able to buy 3 seats together within a week of a game. Trying to buy from the box office on game day was only single seats and in the top section

That was so awesome!

Can we all just agree how much it must suck comparatively to get sent to a minor league affiliate for hockey in Louisiana or Tallahassee? Getting sent to one much farther north in some small town is one thing because the folks love hockey, but most of these baws are coming from Europe or Canada and basically have to move overnight to fricking Lafayette. The culture shock must be unreal for them.

I’ll pay handsomely if you can get me an old ice pirates jersey

I was at this game and it was the most insane thing I ever saw at a hockey game. The goalies were going at it. Louis Bedard got thrown out and came back out for more. For a while I thought the two coaches were going to square up. The fight seemed to go on forever and they just abandoned the remainder of the 2nd period afterwards. It took a couple of minutes to read all of the misconduct and game misconduct penalties they handed out and there were barely enough players left to play the 3rd period.
ps, hearing the call makes me really sad. Tallahassee's play-by-play guy was Kyle Schultz. He had a great voice that just seemed right for hockey and a wonderful way of describing things. After the T-Sharks left, he went back home to Wisconsin. On his way home late at night after calling a game he fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road. He died in the accident but I don't think anyone else was hurt. Every time I think about the Tigersharks I think about Kyle, what a great guy he was and how much he is still missed I'm sure by his friends and family. RIP Kyle.

I still have the commemorative puck from the first Ice Gator game ever played at the CajunDome.

The ECHL used to be the prototypical "I went to a fight and a hockey match broke out" league.
Absolutely.
No one in Tallahassee, at the time, would have attended a hockey game unless a fight broke out. The Tiger Sharks were well-known for giving the fans what they wanted.

I went to a bunch of ice gator games 97-99. There was some bar down the street that would bring you to the game in their road trolley and pick you in addition to a draft beer for $5. we did that many times just to not have to deal with parking at the Cajun dome and we were 17 at the time, never carded one time.

#44 Cam Brown was the shite for the Kingfish. Dude is 48 now. Time flies. Loved the Kingfish and that Cotton Eye Joe dancing machine.

That was Ray's. It was a real happening place in the mid-90's when you were too old for the Strip, and Downtown was not yet a destination.

I went to a mudbug game a few weeks ago in shreveport. Some a-hole forgot to check my knuckles before talking shite in the stands... needless to say I’m permanently banned from all events inside the Hirsch coliseum.
I gave the guy a Brooklyn beating.
