I saw this in my neighbors yard for sale. I don’t know anything about tractors is this a good deal? I would just have it as a yard decoration not for actual use.

Well, if it still runs, it’s a terrible lawn decoration. Maybe you could put it next to your plane?

Idk, but there’s a $25 chips ahoy gift basket that I probably couldn’t turn down.

Seems like it would be great to move the plane in and out of his hanger.

Too much money for an old machine with <30hp. You can do much better on a newer used tractor with that little of power. My neighbor just sold his 1984 32hp for $3600.
If you're looking for lawn art there is much cheaper out there. If you want a tractor to use then go find another.

What’s the upkeep like? Do I have to run it once a month to keep the juices flowing? I’m just utilizing it as lawn art, but obviously want to keep it nice.

So you edited your previous post so that you would be the “first” to mention his airplane?

The internet is such a sad place

Not worth it. As was said before many much newer for less. Saw a Kubota 30 horse with loader for $3800 w/ 4wd around here the other day. I know nothing of its condition, just saw a pic and the price. It did look better than that one and also had shuttle shift.

that’s the first model tractor I ever drove. It would make a great collectors piece.

I agree. A little high.

That's not the point of a refurbished old tractor.

Much better deal if a person wants a tractor to work with.

Old refurbished tractors are usually kept around to show or use in parades. They are popular in the mid west but not so much around here.

As for the 430 in ad, I wouldn't buy that one without someone with experience looking closely at it first.

They can be used for some light work

Bought a Model 70 out of a chicken yard for $300 about two decades ago. It's a larger model diesel, but it wasn't running. Probably would've made a decent yard decoration if you're into that sort of thing. I actually rebuilt the engine and added it to the collection. Bought a running Model R out of Texas a few years later for $2,500 IIRC. Also added it to my herd of Deeres. Both of those are a little older (basically early 1950s) and larger, but they are similar vintage to the 430. Haven't looked at the market lately, but $5,500 sounds way high.

It’s priced pretty good. I’d pay $4000-$4500.

Anyone who wants to restore it it’s a good model for it and still get a bit of general use.

I have a 84 JD `950 27 horse I use to till my garden and draw rows-drag a plane on the driveway and I’ll never get rid of it. Probably only get 6-7 and it’s just worth more to keep it. 3cyl diesel.
