quote:

“Welcome to Freedom!” exclaims real estate agent Ashley Scott as she surveys the nearly 97 acres of land that she and a group of 19 Black families purchased in August. “I’m hoping that it will be a thriving safe haven for people of color, for Black families in particular,” Scott says.

quote:

The unrest that took hold of the country earlier this year after the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police, and closer to home, the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery while jogging outside Brunswick, Georgia, prompted the women to search for a new community, one they could start themselves.

Now let’s see what happens after mommy and daddy pass down the land

What's the problem. It seems like they are "pulling themselves up by the bootstrap".

Gonna look the same in about 20 years.

Wait...so they are getting praised for building a racially based city.

But if some white families did that? There would be nonstop attacks on it.

Hell, they said Saint George was that.

this whole thing is ridiculous. Good luck to them, they'll need it. Just because you have the land doesn't mean you'll be able to develop it

God I hope they never allow a single white person just to make it more hilarious when they inevitably blame the massive failure on racism

Why stay in the United States, especially in the South?

The most racist country in the world and then you select the most racist area of that country?

I wonder how it's coming along?

can't really find any updates on their project, but I did find this pic from a year ago and is what I pretty much expected.

They are. But the "thugs" they are trying to get away from will find their 'utopia" and take it for their own.

As of July 2023, the settlement consists of a dilapidated campground, and its founders are working on establishing roads and utility services before beginning building residences.

They bought the land 4 years ago. Shock, they haven't broken ground.

I'm surprised there's no mud huts and 5 mile walking path to the water source. Move closer to the water!!!
