Gardere is on the registration - information I was able to find on my own but LSP could not.
I just ran it and got name, address, current plate, previous plate, VIN, pretty much everything. This is easy stuff for police also.
Hope they got them. If OP needs any help still ...

A license plate isn’t enough to find a car? Man, y’all’s police force is beyond crap
He probably had his hand out for a bribe.

Did you talk to the cop, or did you get all this second hand from your daughter?
This!!! Didn't she call you and you came down since she's 16 and hasn't done this before? When my daughter was rear ended at 16, we had her older brother go first because he was closer and then they didn't all leave till her dad got there.
Sorry...I see you got there. What did the cop say to you?

I think at this point, I'd let the insurance company handle things.
You have a police report stating it was a hit and run (I assume) with your daughter's and friends statements as the only ones on file. The last thing you want is someone to screw things up and say that your daughter was the one at fault in the accident.

The girls got a license plate, but the cop wasn’t convinced that would be enough to find the vehicle and driver.
Now that must be BRPD!

I believe that you can report the hit in run to the OMV for an insurance inquiry and they will attempt to contact the owner.
This is a document from OMV: LINK
All the insurance companies are trying to figure this stuff out now. My dad had a hit and run in a parking lot. The insurance company came out to take paint samples. They took his truck's and the other color that was left behind. Evidently insurance companies have a data base with this stuff.

It was Louisiana State Police. Our insurance will cover repairs - it’s just the principle. Why should fleeing the scene of an accident mean you’re free from consequences? Let’s reward people who break the law by not holding them accountable for their actions. The idea that the police can’t be bothered to exert minimal effort when they’ve been given all of the information, to locate and at least issue the a-hole a citation for the accident, is infuriating. Why would they stop the next time they hit someone, when clearly it’s not actually required.

Yeah so the police report shows unknown vehicle and driver. So they literally did nothing.
I live in Houston and really wouldn't expect them to do anything. I hate saying this, but they spend their time on other crimes and do the minimum they can on vehicular incidents. I'd file my insurance and completely let them handle it. That is why you get uninsured motorists coverage. Knowing the license may not help, because the car may be stolen.

If this was a local agency I’d agree, but LSP took this and all they do is work wrecks. This is their entire job. They don’t have murders to solve.
OP, I’d call Troop A during the day and ask to speak with a supervisor. This is just pure laziness.

Several years back a friend and I got jumped. A bystander stopped and the muggers jumped in the their (the muggers) car and drove away. The bystander waited for the cops and had wrote down their license plate number. When my friend and I went to the police station a few days later to get the report, there was no mention of a witness let alone the license plate number. Cops didn't want to have to follow up on it so they just didn't report it.

I think everyone is forgetting the rules around here. We need pics... to investigate the accident.

This is the new thing. Some a-hole smashed into my truck, backed up and took off. I was so in shock he got too far ahead of me to get the plates. It's common here now. I'm not bringing race into the convo but...

There are probably a dozen hit and runs in BR every day. The piece of shite drivers don’t have insurance, valid license, or pretty much anything else required to drive and they know the cops won’t ever catch up to them.
