Shortly after 3:50 p.m., the 10th-grade student told his classmates he wanted to get off the bus, according to NOPD, while the bus was driving down the 3500 block of Burgundy Street.

The boy then got up, walked to the back of the bus, opened the emergency exit door and jumped, according to police.

Police said the student sustained "significant injuries," and as of Friday morning he was listed in critical condition.

Doesn't sound like he stuck a 10.0, but he definitely landed.

I’m sure he thought it looked easy enough but it can be deceiving. Try jumping on a treadmill that’s at full speed and then reverse that process. And that’s not even 10 mph.

I would assume normal speed for a bus in a neighborhood.

So 50.

I respect him. A mans word is all he has. Especially in 10th grade.

I guess he didn't stick it (gymnast lingo), or MAYBE he was stuck to the pavement. Wonder why...

Really? Guess you forgot what is like to be a teen.

I jumped off a car moving about 40 mph when I was around 15. Broke both arms and a shoulder. What a arse.
