In other news, woke up this morning, put my feet on the ground, and gravity still works.

yeah but the bigger point is nobody is trying to claim Nola is a great city compared to Chicago, especially in terms of violence
It’s the greatest city since Pompeii.

It’s sad that America as I knew it is gone for good or at best shrinking at a staggering rate. Not trying to sound like a puss but I have to move towns just so my children can experience a tenth of what I was able to.
I know.. I know.. Dear Facebook.

And not a damn one that survives will say anything to the police. And in a month, there will be retaliation shootings for all of these.

Are you under the impression these are historic numbers for shootings or something?

Not even close to the 90s.

I can't imagine the Federal Consent Decree is helping, from what I understand NOPD is no longer allowed to chase anyone committing a non-violent crime. Not that many of them would do it anyway.

Absolutely not. This is just the norm these days.

Exactly what's different... our family is doing the same things for the Memorial Day weekend that we've been doing since I was a child I'm 37 now...if anything it's gotten better... my generation (siblings, cousins) is better off financially than previous ones... more than half or college educated, some own businesses, we all own homes... we all grew up in public housing... the crime nowadays in no way compares to crime in the early 90's... the crack era was far more dangerous than whatever this era will be known as...
So what changed for you in America???...

Isn't that pretty normal for NOLA and Chicago?

A 50-year-old man fatally wounded in the 2400 block of A.P. Tureaud Avenue early Saturday. The man had been walking up the street when an unknown person shot him multiple times, police said.
If only A.P. were alive today to see how much good came from all his hard work.

Working-class whites have taken on many of the sociological characteristics of the black family, including low rates of marriage, high rates of unwed motherhood, and declining work ethic among men.
