They explicitly say multiple times that its a theatrical act that includes light and sound affects which is part of the reason for the warning. I understand what the priest is saying here and anyone who really thinks that this is a true seance should avoid it.

This is where I don’t think it matters or not. A seance is a seance and Idolatry is idolatry. The same way that an umbrella isn’t a capacitor but it becomes one when struck by lightning. The disclaimers are to not hurt business.

Good on the priest. He brought awareness to it the right way. As stated in many posts we all have free will. How we choose to use our free will is what the daily challenge of Christianity is about. Do we choose to talk to God daily or do we just focus on ourselves?

What is crazy is that a priest telling his parishioners that going to a seance is bad is not only news worthy, but his jimmy is deemed rustled. What a world

Im Catholic and no, those "exorcisms" are performed on people with mental illness or neurological disorders.

Is there a priest here? I found an atheist libtard that needs an exorcism

There are plenty of heathens available in the pool of consumers who will gladly get their titillation from this.

I'd suggest you stop being a dick, but we both know the impossibly of that request being fulfilled by you.

Some, but the most rational is that they want to believe. Hence the apophenia and increase in credulity.

So a thread about a fake seance has now turned into arguing about exorcisms.

I had a babysitter when I was little who was so much fun. We’d get out the ouija board and have a “seance” and try to contact Jim Morrison.

And it was all in good fun. Like the 13th gate.

Again, this is excellent free marketing for them.

It was being treated as real on the first page. All seances are fake and run by scammers.

I can’t decide if I want to stay in here for entertainment or go back to the woman hate threads…

I’m upset that I have so much to do at work today when this place finally gets fun.

That's the point. They didn't know Latin. The priests did.

Exaggeration
You seem to not even want to consider exorcisms could be real when Jesus himself performed exorcisms in the Gospels.

The process for diagnosing someone is very extensive. They exhaust many avenues before deeming someone possessed. Someone with schizophrenia doesn't magically get cured after several sessions with a priest praying over them. Yet that happens way more frequently than you think. They aren't just crazy.

Those weren’t real either.

The GOOD News - These folks are very tolerant*

The BAD news - Wait till they hear what sinful path The 14th Gate will led to too.

*as long as you agree with them.

the actual concern wasn’t that Harry Potter was evil but that this fictional series aimed at youth present a false reality where “magic” and “sorcery” in the like could be used for “good.”

Is this the same church that bent over backward to protect a bunch of child molesters?

But I get it. Harry Potter was the REAL threat that needed attention.

I know 2. I mean they are practicing Satanists, which is not the same as “devil worshippers”.

They are describing things that would not be mistakable by ignorance. My choices are not silly, the accounts from some of these priests are dramatic leaving only those two options.

I've read accounts and most of the events like speaking foreign languages are completely wrong. They make gibberish sounds and occasionally a few sounds might make up a phrase but it's a product of apophenia in the observers.

You just have a materialist world view that everything can be explained away. Did Jesus just not understand mental illness? The gospels are pretty clear cut on this issue.

If he is a practicing Catholic we should welcome him and encourage this discussion. The Catholic church has done a poor job in the post-modern era of educating the flock, especially in the United States. That is changing thanks to some incredible people who understand Catholicism, the traditions of the church and the means to disseminate that message with modern technology.

I have Catholic family members that openly say they dont believe in transubstantiation. It is up to us to show them why the Catholic church believes what they proclaim.

What’s so far fetched from possession if Jesus rose from the dead and brought people back to life?

Go listen to this. Be open to the other side.
