Swami Sivananda's passport says he was born on August 8, 1896
The passport, which was photographed and shared on social media much to the disbelief of residents, claimed that Swami Sivananda was born in the city of Kolkata in the West Bengal state of India on August 8, 1896.
An internet search revealed that as of 7 October 2019, the oldest known living person is Kane Tanaka of Japan, aged 116 years and 278 days. Tanaka was born on 2 January 1903.

Wonder how many people are left in the world who were born in the 1800s.

His first flight was in a bi-plane..

Sivananda, from the holy city of Varanasi, grew up in extreme poverty and chose to become a monk, saying he owed his age to “yoga, discipline, and celibacy”. “I lead a simple and disciplined life. I eat very simply -- only boiled food without oil or spices, rice and boiled daal (lentil stew) with a couple of green chillies,”
I'd rather be dead

I'm sure there is more than 1. Lots of people aren't on government records.

where the frick do you live?
Powerlines, phone lines, etcetera, are above ground in this country, as well (yes, I get the agglomeration is your concern here), which is third world.

If true, this man was born closer in time to the Sepoy Rebellion of 1857 that established the British Crown as the sovereign of India than he was to World War II. Absolutely nuts.

Well considering the alternate of him dying years ago, I'd say yes.

Curious if they actually verified this mans age ?

I'm not saying there is a lot but I would guess between 3-10.
Lots of places in the world where they live cleaner than us. Their government doesn't care about them living in the Himalayas and crap.
