I know kids sneak out, but at that age it’s usually much earlier and to roll someone’s house nearby (like same street in neighborhood) that you probably know and know you will have to help clean up the next day.
Wonder if pedo pretended to be someone else online and set kid up to sneak out. I don’t know area, but normally i can’t imagine a pedo trolls around expecting to find 12 year olds walking around. Maybe just opportunist which is why he tried to kill him there versus having somewhere to take the kid. The guy needs to be put down.

I'm not sure you can blame the parents for neglect if the kid sneaks out when everyone is asleep. We've seen cases where parents chained their child to the bed to prevent such actions, but that is a no no too.
