That's a pretty insensitive thing to say. She may have family on here. Who are we to judge in these situations where so many things could have played into it? I pray you never have to deal with what her parents are dealing with.

For frick's sake. So she's with you when you take a shite or a shower? An abduction can take seconds, dudes. Seconds.
Unless she's on a leash and chain there is no kid anywhere that's monitored every second of his/her existence.
But this is totally derailing the thread so I'll drop it. But you can make another thread congratulating yourselves for your superior parenting abilities if you want, I guess. I feel bad for these parents because this can happen to anybody.

That's ridiculous. You wouldn't know where she was if she was ABDUCTED! Dad, I'm going to the mailbox-----gone....why be so insensitive.

I'm simply inquiring how something like this happens? There's a whole bunch of missing pieces to this story.
A 12 yr old girl is not going anywhere quietly, so maybe someone she knows was involved.
I feel terrible for her parent(s)!! I really do, but we need more details.

There are times when I think my son is in the living room with his mom but is actually alone in his bedroom. Or outside in our fenced in back yard but actually right behind me while I'm getting someing out of the fridge. And he's only 2. I have a tough time blaming the parents for this at this point.

Lots of super hero parents on this thread fighting to proclaim who is the bestest parent ever. Makes me feel like shite. I have three kids and I only know where they all are 71.3 % of the time.

there is a reason the vast majority of kidnappings are done by a family member
also, these stories often deal with kids "running away"
"stranger danger" is exceptionally rare
