Damn that is terrible if hypothermia is what he died from. There were shelter open, also a pile of blankets would have made even 12 degrees survivable. Something seems off.

I remember the first time I camped below freezing I wore too much, sweated, and then that gave me some awful sores.

My first time was about a month ago. Surprised I got some sleep. Got down to 17/18.

I don’t believe that story one bit. If it is 12 degrees in that trailer and you don’t have enough blankets to keep from freezing to death, you are not going to be comfortable enough to just go to sleep in the bed. You’re going to be up moving around. And if you’re up moving around in a wind free environment, you will not freeze to death or even get frostbite in 12 degree weather.

No reason for parents to be alive and not the kid. Do they not know to huddle under the same fukn blanket. Wtf!?
Yeah the article doesn't give much other than trailer and found in his bed.
You live in a damn trailer, is it too much to all huddle up when you sleep?
I'm 35 and my Dad still called me to be prepared for this. Obviously I roll my eyes, but it's still appreciated that his thought was still on his kid.
Your kid is in your damn trailer feet away.

You have to admit, whether you voted for Biden, Trump, Beto or Cruz, this disaster isn’t a good look for politicians/government regardless of red or blue.
It’s the incessant finger pointing on both sides of the aisle all while the American people are left in shopping lines for hours for food/water and no electricity for days.
But Facebook and Twitter are still alive and well with “my side is the good side and your side is at fault”.
It’s exhausting.

If you sleep outside below 20 it usually takes 4 layers up top to stay warm. 2 jackets, 2 shirts, and a good sleeping bag. Down, fleece, and long sleeves whatever.
When we sleep in the car on the way to the cabin in Idaho it has been as cold as -10-15.
I crack the windows, sleep on top of a comforter, and cover with a sheet and down comforter.
No shirt. Just boxers and socks.
Best sleep I ever get.

They probably didn’t speak or read English so they had no idea what was happening. We need 1 billion dollars to teach these poor refugees English now.

Do they not have Spanish speaking news or radio in Texas?

Never camped, have you.

Wow, sounds wild. Being from south Louisiana I was surprised how well I held up in my first sub freezing trip.

All the time broham. A 20 degree bag does not keep you warm in your long johns and a t-shirt.

A really solid trial attorney needs to sue the frick out of electric supplier, if thats why power was off.
If you fricking run out of product and can't supply to a customer, you should be responsible for damages arising from your neglect.
And parents, you idiots, sleep in the car starting it every 15 minutes.
My God. What is wrong with these fricking idiot parents.
Had to be drugs and/or alcohol involved

Haha and do you know who regulates a power company? Makes them blow money on solar and green options that aren't as reliable?
