Searched, didn't see posted.

quote:

A young brain cancer survivor committed suicide after being bullied about her looks, reports said.

Bethany Thompson, 11, got off the school bus in Ohio last week and shot herself on her back porch, her mom, Wendy Feucht, told The Columbus Dispatch.

quote:

Bethany endured brain cancer eight years ago and after having a tumor removed was left with a “crooked” smile.

It was that smile that kids at school allegedly noticed and picked on, according to Bethany’s dad, Paul Thompson.

quote:

Feucht later learned that Bethany had created anti-bullying posters but an administrator at school reportedly prevented her from displaying them because they weren’t positive.

Can't imagine what this family is going through. Their girl beats brain cancer but is bullied to suicide- what a tough life.

Tough morning to feel good about humanity.

I cannot imagine what the parents are going through.

On a side note that I'll probably be downvoted to hell over, How did this young girl have access to a firearm?

I'm not going to downvote you, but the question of her access to a firearm shouldn't be the top concern with this story.

Complete speculation but I'm assuming the parents owned a gun/guns. I would imagine most 11 year olds know where guns are kept in the house, maybe she even shot the guns herself with her parents?

I'm not a gun-owner and support more gun control, but this isn't a reason to not own guns. This is something you would never even think about happening- don't make this about the gun.

I tell you what's not positive: suppressing nonviolent, non-disruptive, not-even-political free speech.

And it's not. This poor girl went through more in 11 years than most will in a life time. I'm heartbroken that she was unable to find help and chose to end her life so short.

This doesn't change the fact that an 11 yr old was still able to commit suicide with a gun. If I'm a terrible person for questioning why that was available to her then so be it.

ETA: FWIW I am against more gun control but I feel that it is important to have loaded or unloaded weapons secured away from children at home.

I do not know the situation so I will not blame parents for this.

We are at an empasse.

Can't call a cancer survivor a coward, but that is what the OT calls those who commit suicide.

The post you quoted literally said, "on a side note"

It's not the first thing I think of when I read this story, but the thought definitely has to pop into your head at some point.

In fairness, we don't know what they said.
