I mean in this incident it was an 11 year old kid, I'm not sure we can safely make that assumption
That's a fair point.
Coming more from the "method doesn't matter" camp, I can honestly say I'm hesitant on the gun focus because it tends to take over the discussion and I know there's so much more to a situation like this than that. But that doesn't mean the gun access isn't a big deal.

The only thing though, the original guy that mentioned it literally stated it, "as a sidenote," and the gun crowd jumped in and ran with it without actually reading/comprehending that comment.
It can be both. It can be sad/tragic and we can question the bullies here AND wonder how she had access to guns, but some here make it sound like if you question the gun part, you don't care at all about anything else. It's probably the same crowd that thinks Obama was going to take away their guns.

The posters who think bullied kids should just man up are noticeably absent from this thread.

And yet Poli Talk lol'ed at Hillary saying she'd distribute $500,000,000 to anti-bullying initiatives

A post I made in another thread 2 days before this thread

If someone is hell bent on suicide, they will find a way. Hanging, pills, etc. How many people have prescription painkillers in their homes? How about bedsheets or knives? Or vehicles and garden hoses?
RE: suicide issues in particular. It turns out the suicide rate among men and boys is significantly higher than that of women - even though women and girls attempt suicide more often.
A major reason for this discrepancy is boys and men more frequently use a gun when they decide to make an attempt. It is a lot more likely you will be successful with a gun than with a knife or pills.

I'd go kick the shite out of that bully. Kids like that need a good arse beating no matter how old they are.

The little frickers need to be held responsible but what can really be done?
