How does the flu cause septic shock?
If you go untreated for a while it causes your body to shut down. My dad had the flu didn't do anything for it for about 4 days he ended up in ICU for 4 days due to septic shock.

It's not a stretch. I'm talking about this title:
Including it in the title (aka headline) of the thread implies that it is more significant than the actual article makes it out to be.

I read the mention of the flu vaccine as nothing more than the mother's statement that she did what she could to protect her child. Nothing more nothing less.
Agree.
The idea behind the vaccinations in the medical community is herd immunity. When a higher percentage of the population is resistant, there are less people spreading the Illness through exposure. Some people can’t take the vaccines and are high risk, so your immunity is important to them. Pregnant women, people being treated for cancer/other illnesses, and the elderly.

quote:the reason they say flu-related is bc hospitals and clinics test kits only match the flu vaccinations given in a season. That means they don't test nor are able to verify a flu strain unless it's one in a given seasonal vaccination. They can't scientifically verify if it's a flu strain. They can be basically certain it's a flu strain but not in a way to support it legally if they had to.
flu-related complications
Key phrase your title ignored
FTR, flu vaccinations cover about half the flu strains in a given season.

Exactly how I finally guilt tripped my wife into getting one this year.
Healthy people need to get the shot for the people who can't get it.

The flu vaccine has absolutely reduced severity in myself and others I know and it was significantly reduced compared to those with no vaccine.
The effectiveness of the flu shot is relative to the individual who took it and not across the population as a whole.
The flu shot for someone with a strong immune system might be like 6 fire hoses blasting away and effectively putting out your neighbors burning house and you come with your garden hose and start spraying the fire too.
For someone with a weak immune system it would be more like one fire hose struggling to put out the fire and you come with your garden hose.
While this may not be the absolute best analogy....the point is the fight against the flu is more dependent upon the strength of your immune system. The flu shot might have helped you and others reduce the severity, but for some it might not make a difference. I know some people who seem to get the flu every year, and I know some who never get it...The difference between these people is not the flu shot.
As I've said before, I would absolutely encourage those with weaker immune systems to take advantage of any and all help they can get.

It’s a good thing that kid had the vaccine, he would be way more dead if he didn’t.
Now that’s good stuff friend! Someone gets it.

I'll bet seatbelts perform better than the flu vaccine.
I'll bet you are scientifically illiterate and your wife peddles pyramid-scheme homeopathic horseshite and calls herself a "business owner".

Flu vaccines are just a guess. Sometimes the epidemiologists guess right and sometimes they don't. From the CDC:
quote:
U.S. vaccine effectiveness by start year:
2004 10%
2005 21%
2006 52%
2007 37%
2008 41%
2009 56%
2010 60%
2011 47%
2012 49%
2013 52%
2014 19%
2015 48%
2016 40%
2017 36%
2018 47%

The poor boy died. To me, that would tell people the shot isn't worth shite.
Versus millions who have probably had their lives saved by the flu shot over the decades? You are retarded...:lolç
