Almost.
$30k in 1980 is $89,182.65 today, after inflation.
$100,000 today is $33,636.06 in 1980.

Yeah but 100K doesn't go very far in Dallas. It doesn't really go very far in Baton Rouge if you have kids.

I am a little confused with all the "It's not enough" folks. The US median household income is 53k.
Are you all trying to say the US is fricked?

Not true.
I pay 1425 in rent
New Car
No credit card debt
Cable/Internet/Subscriptions
Pay Tolls daily
Still save and have investments.

$100k for a household (assuming family) is not that much
It depends on your lifestyle. If you buy brand new cars every few years, eat out all the time, and send your kids to private school then you can still live paycheck to paycheck on a $100k household income. Likewise, you could send your kids to public schools, not carry a car note, and have plenty of money left over to put away.
Some of that obviously depends on where you live with the quality of schools and such. However, cost of living tends to be very subjective based on how you choose to live your life.

According to here, it's not enough to live a baller lifestyle
But 100k can provide a very comfortable lifestyle for many many folks

They are retarded.
It's enough.
It may not be enough to max your 401k and Roth IRA, take 2 family vacations per year, buy new vehicles every 3-5 years, private school, and live in the best neighborhoods, but it's plenty enough to live and be content.

You are also single with no kids

People live beyond their means.
And it's the OT. 100k isn't enough for them when they have kids, Tahoes, and shitty beach vacations to pay for

$100k is good if you're single without kids or bad debt. I could live very comfortably on that except on the west coast

I guess if you spend like a retard. That's 25,000 a month. If you can't save on half that then you're just an idiot. You probably think you need a new 250 with gold truck nuts every other year.

Private school is what costs us out the arse. I guess we could always move out of BR but I hate spending half my life in traffic
