I happen to be in Tampa and this is running as top story on local news. Momma has already filed a whopper lawsuit. She wants that money “for the safety of other children” according to the news.

Easily looks 20 feet. Dont let the angle fool you. Look how long it takes him to hit the ground when he comes loose from the harness
I'm basing my opinion on the same points as you, so agree to disagree I guess

Not only did the two employees strapped him in correctly but they didn’t check on him or have a sense of urgency.

d = 4.9t*t
t looks to be about one second
So
d = 4.9 meters or about 16 feet.

given that the player is probably 6.5 ft tall, he's only falling not even 4 ft really

Check out the bounce when he hits the ground. Can you give me an estimate of the coefficient of restitution for that kid? Thanks.

Track looks pretty level to me at the point he let go.

Bounced about a foot. So 1/16 = 0.0625. Not very good.

There is a slight dip in the track right where it happens. Also, does the rate of decline take into consideration that he did not fall straight down and actually fell at more of an angle?

It looks like a pretty short ride, kids today are such quitters...

Vertical acceleration is not affected by horizontal speed.
This is literally like the first thing you learn in physics 1.
