For the innocents caught in the crossfire its tragic. However, if the individuals are wrapped up in gang activity and/or narcotic sales then this should be expected. This is why it should be taught to youngsters not to associate with these people. You will die just by standing near them.

Don’t wish this on us. We have enough traffic without those assholes blocking up Claiborne.

Don't worry, Baw. This shooting doesn't fit the agenda so there will be no gun protest over it. Hell, I would be shocked if it makes national news more than just "10 shot in gang related activity in Nola."

Street justice sounds like it was served up last night as two burned bodies were found in Algiers.

They also have a place there called Hit and Run Liquor. I've passed that area before and it just looks like an area you would not want to be in at all.

Reward for info on Claiborne Ave. shooting increased to $25,000

Someone is going to talk....and where is the crime camera footage??

quote:

The reward for information leading to an arrest related to Saturday night's shooting of 10 people on South Claiborne Avenue has been increased to $25,000, the New Orleans Police Department and other agencies announced Monday (July 30).

Three people died in the shooting and seven others were injured. Police have said they believe it was gang-related.

Crimestoppers is doubling the reward it had offered Sunday, increasing the amount given from $5,000 to $10,000, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said. The FBI in New Orleans is also offering $10,000 and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering another $5,000.

"This demonstrates the seriousness with which NOPD and our partner agencies are taking this case," Harrison said.

to the posters saying Chicken and Watermelon is being left out for racial reasons

Kurshaw Jackson, 38, was also fatally wounded while gathered outside the Jazz Daiquiri shop and Chicken & Watermelon restaurant, but was pronounced dead in the 2800 block of Louisiana Avenue, investigators said. Jackson fled the scene after being shot, and collapsed at a home on Louisiana Avenue, police said. NOPD confirmed Monday
Jeremiah Lee was the shooters' "intended target." Lee was 28 years old, according to the coroner's office. Surveillance video from the scene shows Lee being chased by two shooters down Louisiana Avenue toward the crowd around 8:35 p.m., according to the owner of Chicken & Watermelon, who said he watched the video from his business' cameras.

The corner daiquiri store was the scene of one of the most storied and brazen murders in New Orleans in recent memory, a killing for which notorious Central City gangster Telly Hankton was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

Hankton's cousin, Andre Hankton, was accused of ramming Darnell "Durney" Stewart after Stewart fled his vehicle following a high-speed chase down South Claiborne in May 2008.

Stewart went flying an estimated 20 feet into the air in front of the daiquiri shop. When he landed, prosecutors alleged, Telly Hankton strode up and fired repeatedly into Stewart's face before running down Louisiana Avenue toward the river.

The daiquiri shop's owner at the time, John Matthews, witnessed the killing from the doorway and went on to testify against Hankton, but not before being shot at least 17 times in what prosecutors portrayed as a failed hit to thwart his testimony.

Matthews' brother, Curtis Matthews, was then gunned down near the same spot days after Hankton received his life sentence, in another hit attributed to Walter "Urkel" Porter, allegedly on Hankton's behalf.

John Matthews said he was forced to sell the daiquiri shop and go into hiding prior to his testimony.

Suspected getaway car in 10-victim New Orleans shooting seized by police, records show

The two gunmen who shot 10 people, killing three, outside a Central City strip mall on Saturday night arrived and fled in a silver BMW X3, New Orleans police believe.

Two hours after the carnage, police found what they believe was the same SUV engulfed in flames and abandoned near Hollygrove. The vehicle had been reported stolen two months earlier.

Near the scorched SUV, police found a rifle shell casing, blue surgical gloves and shreds from such gloves. Police said the two gunmen wore latex gloves as they fired a rifle and pistols into a crowd outside the small strip mall at South Claiborne and Louisiana avenues.

Court records obtained by The Advocate on Tuesday provided additional details into the investigation of what police have portrayed as a carefully planned gangland hit.

Well we now know these two Hollygrove locals are going to get away with murder.

I guess I should rephrase my statement. The NOPD/DA are too incompetent to get convictions because the public doesn't trust them and no one with a brain would testify against these people. However, street justice will get them eventually.

The NOPD is very good at what they do considering what they have to work with. I’m confident they will find these clowns.

The DA and jurys are a different story.
