I'm 28 and live at home with my mom, however, I have a valid excuse.
I had lived out of state the past 2.5 years and eventually grew to hate everything that was going on in my life. I ended up getting a much better job back where I'm from and jumped at the chance to take it, this was back in late summer. The job is 4 miles from her house by the way.
Unlike maybe some other people, I gave myself a timeline. I said that I would live there for 6 months and save a ton of money then move elsewhere into a house or whatever. I did find somewhere after 6 months and have signed the lease, but can't move in due to my roommate's obligations until March. Also I paid rent and helped with groceries the whole time.
So..I dont' think I'm a bum or anything for living at home. And it's only for about 3 more weeks anyway.

I'm sure I would have hated it, but I'm also a cheap bastard
oh and having my Mom make breakfast for me every morning would be awesome

A justification more than a defense really. Based on what I wrote, I don't see how anyone could possibly think I'm being a loser or a bum given my situation.
Now, I will say that I do have a friend who is a year younger than me that I hang out who lives down the road. HE is one of the ones that yall would

Probably whichever generation that created a terrible job market for them.

A lot of people live at home until they marry.

I just turned 29, and moved in with my parents by choice while shop for my house, and I give them a few hundred each month. Haven't lived here since is was 18. Does that still count?

I haven't lived with my parents since I was 15... I definitely couldn't have done it at 26.

That's actually lower than I'd expect in this Obama economy.

My 29 year old son resembles this remark though I doubt he actually voted. He's still a dependent that we can't claim though he's not living at home.

What happened to living with a roommate in a crappy apartment, working a terrible job, but getting to party all the time?
Today's younger generation is *lame*.

no. I got no problem with what you are doing as you pay some amount of rent. Its the moochers who live with their parents rent free with which I have an issue.

I wish I could have lived at home at 26 I have no shame

I'm a cheap bastard too, just would rather live under a bridge than deal with living at my parents' house for one minute.
Mind you, i know some parents that would love for their kids to live at home forever. Raise their grandchildren too. Just not me or mine.
