Carr 150 at 4 years
Watson 230 at 5 years.

How would the Offense look today?

Don't say we don't have the money because you know who would of made it happen.

We'd be in worse shape. Thank God we didn't make that trade

I haven't followed the Browns. But with our weapons he shouldn't be bad?

Hell no.

Watson's contract is 100% guaranteed and we would have given up a ton of draft capital instead of signing him off the street.

part of me thinks we only got involved to jack up the price since Atlanta was heavily involved.

$230 million guaranteed is what Cleveland gave.

even the kicking the can down the road team the Saints have in they FO couldn't maneuver around that.

Loomis wanted to give up multiple firsts for Watson / Russ, instead he settled on giving Carr 150 million. Don’t worry though, he’ll still be around to pick our next QB after Carr flames out.

You're telling me he hasn't flamed out yet? He's the emo version of Andy Dalton at this point while getting paid 5 times more.

Damn that’s some beef they gave up.

They probably ran the numbers on Watson’s contract and decided they wouldn’t be able to pay those picks anyway so package it all away!

We’ll likely the exact same as the Saints week 12 - Jamies Winston starting with an injured starter. The only difference is Carr will be back while Watson will not.

There is a cap.

Also, the Browns traded their 2022, 2023 and 2024 first-round picks to the Texans in return for Watson.

Absolutely yikes.

While this is true, let's not lose sight of Carr's contract being 85% guaranteed. He's getting his 128.5Mil of his signed 150Mil contract no matter how he plays or what happens.

This new era of guaranteed money is fricking dumb.

I like the idea of the new guaranteed money in the contracts, but I think that should come as an offset to the large bonuses. IMO, it should be either or, but the idea of giving a large signing bonus and a damn near fully guaranteed contract is ridiculous. But there is no putting that toothpaste back in the tube.

To clarify, while it's hard to feel bad for players that are making millions a year to play a game. I always thought it was "unfair" for a player and a team to agree to a multi-year deal, but after a few years only the player has to adhere to the terms of the contract. Teams could just pull the contract, take a hit on the cap, and walk away.
