?

Back up, yes.

But would a team looking to get things turned around sign this 33yo fragile mediocre QB?

Carr’s contract is one of the cheapest for non-rookie QBs. He’s a top 15 QB in QBR or PFF or whatever other metric you want to use. He’s playing behind a terrible line and doesn’t have NFL WRs.

Repeat after me smoothbrain: CARR IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

To answer your question, Yes. Carr could start in for the Giants, Cowboys, Bears, Panthers, Jets, Patriots, Browns, Steelers, Colts and Titans. He might be able to beat out Trevor Lawrence this year as well as Tua and Cousins.

Now answer this question. How would Carr have played if he was the QB of the Lions, Vikings or falcons?

IMO, there is little to no difference between Carr, Goff, Baker and Darnold. You put any of those guys on the Lions and they are amazing. You put any of them on the Saints and we want them gone.

Crazy as it may sound, I think Carrs $50 mil salary is actually reasonable for a trade if a team can negotiate an extension with him. The saints should put some heat on him to take a pay cut with a trade vs. staying in a no win saints for 2025.

Carr is not the problem. The rest of the shite roster is. He could be a 10/11 win team with a playoff win or two with a decent team.

Was telling my friend the same thing. You put Carr on the Vikings with two elite receivers and te, great oline and a run game, you probably get the same result. Same scenario with the Lions.

You saw what Darnold was when he was on the Jets and Panthers. Same as Baker.

Coaching and surrounding talent matter. Anyone think Baker and Darnold would be any good on the Raiders right now?

Goff had won 60% of his starts, has won 10+ games for two organizations multiple times, has won playoff games for multiple organizations, played in SB etc

Mayfield has won playoff games for two different orgs

Their teams respond to their leadership. Carr has 11 years of excuses. Everyone around him is terrible, he’s never the issue

My gosh some of yall or so delusional. He’s a quality starting QB. How many Drew Brees , Tom Brady, Peyton Mannings, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes exist. We don’t need a new qb right now. We need a line that can block. And skill position players that can stay on the field. STFU

yeah these Carr defenders are an odd bunch.....dude was out there for the taking and we were his only true suitor, if he were just a plug and play on a good roster, then there would have been a bigger market for him.

His deal is "affordable" for a reason, there was no real threat bidding against us.

Some dumb organization like the Saints would kick the tires on him.

What about the other three organizations that waived him, traded him or didn’t fight to keep him?

And yet his coach had to give the Lions a first round pick just to take his contract that he just signed to get from under it….

With the 31 other teams maybe could start with six of them.

The Browns and Rams thought they were upgrading QBs with Watson and Stafford.

Rams were 4-12 the year before Goff got there. The Lions went 3-13 the year he got there. He turned around two orgs and you are comping Derek frickin Carr to him smdh

Mayfield won the first playoff game in 26 years in CLE. He’s increased the Bucs win total each year he’s been there

What is Derek Carr hanging his hat on? He’s just been dealt a shitty hand 11 consecutive years huh?

Try 10 to 12. I already named them for you.

This thread makes me so happy. I’m so glad there are some other reasonable people who aren’t QB obsessed and can’t look beyond one position. Carr is a B-/C+ player. He isn’t winning without some B+/A- talent around him. Unfortunately our offensive line is D+ and our WRs and TEs when healthy are C-, and D- when injured like they were this year. Let’s fix the D and C problems first. Mahomes wouldn’t win 8 games with this roster and Dennis Allen as coach.

Goff was playing like crap and they wanted to get rid of him and not be stuck with the extension he just signed. Gave up a first to just get rid of him. And they won the superbowl right after they got rid of him.

You don’t think the players the Lions have been drafting have anything to do with turning them around? Or the coaching?

And yet in a league where the qb position is the most valuable commodity, the Browns couldn’t give him away. Think he went for a 5th.

And Carolina just outright waived him in the middle of the year. Rams had no interest in bringing him back.

Did Dak, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Drake Maye, Russ, Anthony Richardson and Rodger’s retire? None of goes teams are turning to Derek Carr

Carr could get run with the Giants, Raiders, Titans and Browns. You know, the worst teams in the league

Yes. A healthy Carr could be a starter for more than half of the teams in the league. I consider him a slightly above average NFL quarterback.
