I think the Saints would win double digit games w/o MT, & would be in the playoffs as well. The only way the Saints don't make the playoffs is a season ending injury to Brees

We really need to stop asking a qb in his 40s to elevate other players.

Where did I say that? In this hypothetical, he said the saints are 7-9 without MT. I’m saying that is just not true. I don’t want Brees to have to do that. I want them to pay the man. I just said 7-9 is not realistic.

Saints signing Michael Thomas has more to do with "life after Brees" than it does this season with him. Answer is, yes, Brees would find a way to win without Thomas. The key question you have to ask is how well do you think the Saints do without Thomas AND an unknown at QB?

Pay him
Win SB
Trade him to somewhere like Dallas (will overpay) or post Fitz Arizona
Use salary to pay Kamara, Lattimore and new QB
Draft a new WR (Saints have proven able to find diamonds in the rough)

Man sometimes you guys really throw me for a loop.

I feel like as saints fans, a lot of us imagined pairing Drew with a top flight All Pro wide receiver. Now that the Saints have one, and have had a ton of success with him as a key piece, we don’t want to acknowledge his importance?

Drew and MT elevate eachother. It’s not one way or the other. They both make eachother better. Just listen to the way Drew and Sean Payton talk about him. He works harder than anyone on the team in the offseason. He goes 110% in practice and it translates to him being all pro. On top of all that, he loves this team, and he loves New Orleans. It’s a perfect fit.

Sometimes it’s not all about the production, although MT certainly is productive.
Sean Payton talks about the “right 53” all the time, and bringing in the “right guys” that are smart, hardworking, people of character and integrity.

How could anyone possibly think that not having MT on the team isn’t anything but a tremendous loss???
Combine all of that with the fact that a year or two from now, 20 million is going to look like a solid deal for Michael Thomas, as the cap keeps going up and other receivers get new deals worth more.

Saints don't HAVE to do anything. He's under contract and if they chose, could place the Franchise tag on him next year. Thomas doesn't have as much leverage as people seem to assume. I'm hoping it stays amicable, but Thomas returns new contract or not.

Some people seem to be forgetting our WRs outside of Thomas are bad. Nobody can make that Thomas-less corp look good.

jimmy graham thought he was gods gift and the best there was in the NFL as well

brees made him what he was and he wasnt much to speak of after he left

brees also made MT as great as he is. sure he is talented and will do great wherever he goes, but his odds of going to pro bowls without brees throwing it to him are very low

Please list all the NFL teams that have won the super bowl with the highest paid WR in the NFL. Thanks

Irrelevant because Thomas’s contract will be topped by another wide receiver with the swiftness.

The OP is one ignorant MOFO. MT is a great WR, but Drew will fund receivers and move the ball.

How will there be enough for Latimore,Eli Apple, Kamara?
What if Drew decide to play 2 more years?
