With the Saints 2019 Roster a day 1 starter is not gonna be there in the 2nd round. Depth yes, but starter no.

I am for Grier or trading for Rosen with our 2nd round pick.

Smart pick on any QB would be the young man from Buffalo University. This guy could sit and learn and be groomed behind an all pro QB and an offensive minded coach for the future. Saints first pick of the draft should be on a running back that would handle more physical running than wearing out Kamara or Murray. I would draft Elijah Holyfield.

So you are really going to judge teddy on a throw away game with no o-line.
He wasn't getting reps all year and then in week 17 you want him to look great with half a team.
I'm not saying teddy is great but he is def better than what happened in that game.
If you can't see that then you just don't know football

Im also not being looked at to be a franchise qb of a billion dollar organization.

Facts are facts. Just because you dont like or agree with them, dosent delegitimize them.

His play on the field was good but not great.

No qb with a visible tattoo has won a superbowl.

Do not want.

Its probably because Tom Brady hasn't let many other QBs win titles in the last 10 years also being he was at least 1 of 2 QBs in the big game ALOT. And hell if that fricking terrible scrub arse Kaepernick can make it to the Superbowl, another guy with an arm tattoo can. Let's not make it about bad decisions, it could have been a drunk night for the guy

That would constitute a bad decision.

The tattoo is massive it wasnt in one sitting.

Kaepernick was a running qb it lasted 1 regular season and was figured out also those 49ers teams were defensive stout.

Are we really discussing this tattoo like it is significant? As long as the tattoo is not a swastika or a giant penis, I don’t care. It’s meaningless. This is a different generation. Your tattoo prejudice makes me worry more about you than having one makes me worry about him. Stop talking.

Saints have made it pretty clear that Bridgewater will be taking over this team after Brees unless Brees decides he wants to play another three plus seasons.

bullshite. He signed a one year deal. Sure CSP says nice things about him, he also insinuated Taysom Hill was our QB of the future before signing TB. Did you believe that too?

I hope not. He can keep the backup gig, but he isn't a starter in this league.

I’m not so sure. I think they definitely see him as a viable option though. I definitely do not think they would be opposed to collecting more potential options though at reasonably cheap prices as they gear up for the transition.

Having a couple of stellar drafts and a nice young core/deep team has given us a bit more leeway to cast a wider net in finding another qb.

I hope I'm wrong and he becomes our next great franchise quarterback, but nothing in his career has shown him to be that. This isn't a one game assessment. His pro-bowl selection was laughable.

This is dumb & narrow minded. You are willing to pass up an opportunity for the franchise to continue to be great for the next 15-20 years, in hopes of drafting a player who COULD possibly help win a Super Bowl for one season?

The organization tried this very route last season by trading up for Marcus Davenport. This is not a knock on Davenport. I liked the pick & I believe his upside will pay dividends starting this season but his selection did not ultimately provide the Saints with added push they needed to win the Super Bowl. (I know the team should have at least been in the big game.)

Had Payton been more discreet about his infatuation with Patrick Mahomes, Mahomes would be a Saint right now & there would be no uncertainty about who would be the QB after Brees. It obvious some have forgotten just how close Mahomes became to be a Saint.

quote:

We were also aware there were a number of other teams that liked him, teams like the Arizona Cardinals, the New York Giants, the New Orleans Saints, the Pittsburgh Steelers. There were teams that would try to make the move a year early to try to prepare their next starting QB.

"We're sitting there on the night of the draft, and there's communication going back and forth between teams and agents. It's not something you see, but we're on our phones talking with coaches and general managers. We were aware of certain teams that said they were trying to trade up. If Kansas City hadn't gone exactly where they went, he would have been gone. He would have been gone on the very next pick."

Dorsey had much the same sense. He identified the Cardinals, Giants and Saints as teams the Chiefs needed to maneuver in front of. The Saints picked 11th, the Cardinals 13th and the Giants 23rd.

"I tried to read as much as I could, in terms of reading the other 31 teams and seeing where they were positioning," Dorsey said shortly after Mahomes was drafted. "I felt to get this player, I had to be at 10.

"I know there were three teams that wanted this player very badly
, and I got a text or two [afterward] asking, 'How'd you do that?' It worked. I've got to thank the Buffalo Bills. They were willing to acquire some picks, and that would help them as well, so it helped out both parties."

LINK

I like Will Grier & think that with the right organization, he can be very good to great. The Saints are one of those organizations. He isn't the prospect Patrick Mahomes was. Grier doesn't have the pure raw, physical talent as Mahomes but Grier can be accurate & command an offense at a high level. I was very high on Mahomes despite the early mocks in 2017 saying he was a 2-3 round pick. He then goes on to throw 50 TDs, 5000 yards & wins MVP in his first season as a starter.

I remember the same talk about this guy. Immature & shows poor decision making. He only went on to break Peyton Manning's rookie passing TD record without even starting all 16 games for the Browns.

FYI, Grier has been married since 2016. While that has nothing to do with football, it has everything to do with his mindset & focus. He is mature & settled for his age. Some might say getting married so young is a sign of poor decision making but I don't think so.

I would have to see a link to that insinuation before I gave it much credence. In any event, you're ignoring the amount of the one-year deal that Bridgewater signed. You don't give a guy that much cash as a one year insurance policy without sending an additional message.
