I’m curious to see if he would be able to stay with the Saints as an assistant coach. I feel like he will want to spend time with family, but I can’t see him staying away from the game.

He will go back to San Diego and make money off his investments like Walk-Ons.

Seems like a lot of people that retire/leave/get fired don’t leave the city. Pretty interesting. I think when Brees retires he will be in SD more than Nola.

I heard him say the week he was stuck in CA he had to go watch the game at a friend's bar because he either doesn't have cable hooked up in his SD house or doesn't have Sunday Ticket.

I think he will spend a significant portion of his early retirement away from football.

If he doesn’t he will want to come back. I could see once he turns 50 him coming back in a FO role one day. Maybe with the Saints maybe NOT with the Saints. I think, like Peyton, he will need to scratch that competitive itch somehow. But who knows, he could pull a Favre and basically disappear. But I doubt it. He’s too attached to the game and he’s too competitive. I don’t think he’ll ever coach but a FO role seems likely if he stays away from the game for long enough.

Eh. Him and his family seem pretty rooted in Nola but I do expect them to spend a pretty good amount of time, when his kids aren’t in school, in San Diego.

Y’ll are crazy if you think he’s going to be anywhere but SD after his football days are behind him.

He will always have a presence in NOLA and with organization, Gayle is the godmother to one of his kids. In San Diego he can live more of a normal life where he isn’t Drew Brees the lord and savior of NOLA.

Would you raise your kids in NOLA given another option?

He will be in NOLA here and there to check on his business investments, but when he retires, his family probably never steps foot in New Orleans again

A lot of that has to do because his trainer lives in San Diego. He has a ton of business ventures down south—unless he takes an analyst position for on the major networks I don’t see him leaving down south. His son Baylon will be starting QB for Newman in 4 years when Arch Manning graduates.
