Why not just offer 4 firsts and give Houston the mind blowing deal they are seeking?

Giving up 4 firsts will hurt no doubt and you only do this if they aren’t interested in guys like Davenport, Roby, Peat, Ruiz or McCoy. Onyemata is almost the sole reason our run D is so good so I’m not letting him walk and no way Ramcyzk is in any deal. I’d like to keep McCoy too and give them Ruiz but I could stomach that so Ruiz moves to his natural position. But if they want picks then offer them 4 firsts but stagger them. Give them our next 2 firsts but then we get our 2024 1st then they get 2025, we get 2026 and they get 2027. You can even throw some mid round picks in there along the way to sweeten the pot. For a team that is in full rebuild they would get 2 straight 1sts but then they would get 1sts 4-5 years down the road to help them continue to build. The type of rebuild they are facing won’t be complete in just a year or two it’s going to take time and patience and this could be a deal that actually benefits both parties.

If Deshaun says we are his preferred destination, what leverage does Houston have? He can veto any trade. So maybe you can get away with 3 1sts at the most.

That would be great but has he said that? I’m just saying we could survive giving 4 1sts up as long as they aren’t 4 years in a row. We would need 1-2 years where we get a pick to restock the roster where it’s getting older. But 4 firsts for an elite QB isn’t a deal breaker if it’s put together right.

Based on the fact they have turned some teams down and given Watson permission to visit the Saints would imply they are satisfied w what the team offered. Now it’s up to Watson to release the no trade clause after he does his due diligence. Can’t increase the offer to convince Watson even more

I just hope they don't ask for more like they did to the dolphins.

It’s reported that Watson himself is between Saints and Carolina as choice destination.
It’s speculated that Houston has received and tentatively accepted offers from both Saints and Carolina.
Saints and Carolina are meeting Watson in person today/tomorrow.
That’s where I believe it stands at this point. Someone correct me if incorrect.

Wait until after the meeting and if true it's between us and Carolina, if he knocks them out reduce our offer to a few 7ths and Taysom. Hell give them one first to take paytons dumbass gift contract to Taysom.

We don't need to volunteer any mind blowing deal.
Getting Watson to pick us gives us very nice leverage. You can't low ball houston but you can work a better deal for the Saints no doubt.

Why would we pay more when the Texans are already in agreement with our offer? At this point it’s up to Watson

They are supposedly meeting tonight
I don't know if they have accepted offers from both carolina and the saints but I'm sure it's close.

Does anyone know who gets the first meeting, us or Carolina? Because that is a big deal. You don’t let him leave the building if we are first.

That is dumb. Houston has no say here unless they just refuse to trade him. Watson holds most of the cards, he is the one you have to win over. Just have to offer Houston something fair. But once he is convinced I would definitely low ball Houston, not sharpest tools in the shed over there.

He’s meeting both teams in Houston. There isn’t an option to prevent him from meeting the other team. Both teams have traveled to Houston so he’s not going to tell one of them never mind.

That’s not exactly true. Lowballing will just make Houston open up for other offers. This would be a terrible idea.

We're over the cap and won't be able to keep everyone we currently have.
If we can't replace those guys via the draft, we have to find free agents who are cheaper than the players we allow to leave (ie not as good).
A good QB with no team around him is the 2014-16 Saints.

My point is Watson has to agree to any deal. So we don’t necessarily have to beat the Carolina offer now that it is down to just the Saints and Panthers. Watson is the one that has to be sold
